Theorys on the ending for two towers.
I look but i couldnt find this thread ne where else so i though ild start it.
What are everyone theorys for the ending of the two towers? We knows its not going to be like it is in the book. A good bet is they will Hint at Shelob in this one but i think PJ may want to save that more. I think Frodo and sam may end the movie with Farmair telling them to flee (again i know) as the black gates have opened. As for the others It will end with the lighting of the pires asking for help. I also think we may see Aragorn looking into the platair and seeing the Armys issuing out of mordor. I think this beacuse lets face it ROTK is going to be all action. And the Battle of plenor feilds is the important event and thats the cliffhanger PJ will want to leave us with.

I think the showdown between Gandalf and Saruman might configure heavily as well. And I'm sure they'll play on the duality of these two istari, Gandalf being as Saruman should have been, etc.

The only thing I know is that Shelob is getting ropped to RotK. Those endings sound very promising though.

I think the ending will be something like this:
1. Wormtongue pushing Saruman onto a spike. Maybe with Gandalf and others watching on. 2. Frodo and Sam are in the dark, where they hear Shelob. 3. Saurons minions coming out of Barad-Dur.

I think cassiopeia's on the right track; some resolution, and continued suspense for "Return of the King".

I think it will end with a battle at Orthanc between Saruman's orcs and the Ents, then Saruman is killed in the climax.
Then Sam and Frodo watching the orcs all emerge from the Black Gate and go off to battle, then they start up the mountain to Shelob's lair -- sort of like the end of FotR. I don't think there will be any sign of Shelob unless it's very subtle, like seeing the mouth of the cave on the mountain above. |

I'll remember my post after the movie comes out! I hope I'm wrong on point 1. I think that seeing Shelob (or at least her presence) is a good idea.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Frodo won't even make it to the Morgul vale nor will we see the Dawnless Day.

I know I said earlier that I hoped that the dawnless day would get snuck in, but re-reading it, I can see the time frame is all wrong. Now I'm sure that we won't see the dawnless day at all. I'm pretty sure that Cass has it figured. The sounds of shelob especially, since that was a huge foreshadowing part of that particular chapter, and perhaps they will endeavour to carry across the sense of stench as well.

I don't think PJ will end anywhere near Shelob. That kind of ending would be cheap and would make the beggining of ROTK abrupt (at least the Frodo and Sam part). PJ has said that he isn't making a TV mini-series and he wants to avoid severe cliffhangers. If TTT has a cliffhanger it'll be more like FOTR.

Ild like to think shelob will be hinted at in two towers (ive a sneeking suspecion it may be in) Frodo and sam have quite a bit to do still if shelbob is in ROTK sams got to resuce him haul ass across mordor then destroy the ring all this might get in the way of PJ's favored stroyline of the others so they will not want to lose too much time on that. We will defintally see the Hoards issueing out of mordor. seeing as PJ does not seem to mind clearly presenting distrances properly i can see the movie ending with farmir leading his men in retreat or holding the bridge as long as they can and Aragorn and the boys are gonna be headding for the old paths of dead.

I bet the Two Towers ends before Frodo and Sam are attacked by Shelob. The battle of helms deep is supposed to be a major feature-45 min.

No, I didn't say that PJ would end with Shelob, I said that it would be hinted it... a foul odour within Cirith Ungol, or something like that. A parting shot of them walking through. Argh, all this speculation is killing me!
Olsonm: Where do you think that PJ will end off in TT for the Sam & Frodo storyline? The crossroads?

I don't think Shelob will be hinted at. I think your example of them overcoming the smell of her lair and entering is too extreme a cliffhanger.
PJ has many options as to where to end the movie. If I were to guess I'd say: I don't think PJ will show the dawnless day. Since that happens before the Crossroads, before Morgul vale, before the Stairs of Cirith Ungol, I think it will end shortly after they leave Faramir. I don't think PJ will introduce an element like the dawnless day that would be unexplained, and more importantly, reintroduced in ROTK. This is the same reason I suspect he won't take them up to the Morgul vale. The issueing of the Morgul horde is of the utmost importance to ROTK and it would be sensible to introduce it in the same movie. Now, obviously PJ could alter the timing of the dawnless day. So I could be wrong.

Yes, agreed, the dawnless day looks to be out, as the time table is all wrong.
I don't think that an allusion, or a hint to shelob would be completely out. I'm not talking an obvious one -- just a glance to her cave, or a sense of dread. The audience who hasn't read the book probably wouldn't notice a subtle hint like that. And you still haven't put forward your suggestions, Olsonm.

Yes I did. It's in my previous post: after Faramir, before the Crossroads.

Let me add that if PJ moves the dawnless day I could see him ending it at the Crossroads.
