School Plays and Musicals
Anyone else addicted to these??? I'm in my spring muiscal, "Once Upon a Mattress" right now. We're currently about 3 weeks from production. *read-Crunch time!!* So I'm at the theatre on an average of about 2 hours, 45 mins. a night. But the scary thing is, I wouldn't give it up for anything.
Any other aspiring actors out there??

The Burns Park Players just ended their fifth and last performance
of the year; they did the Music Man, and it was wonderful. I went to see it twice.

My high school(not anymore! ) has a biig mainstage musical or play every winter. And the rest of the year theres a buncha other plays and improv things. The last one they did (I went to see it, but it was a year too late!) was Man of Lamancha. It was really great!

My school does lots of plays and musicals. We rock. Or, er, they rock. I'm just a groupie.
There's nothing better than a really good high school play... but on the other hand, there's nothing worse than a really bad one. I've been to some of those, at other schools that don't take drama as seriously.... I just wanted to die.

long long ago when I was 11 we actually put on The Hobbit at my summer camp. Yeah it was cool. I still didnt know that much about Tolkien at that point but I had seen the movie. And guess who I was? Gollum. Yeah I can still remember a bunch of the riddles to this day.

I remember one play I was a Rag Doll called Looby Loo and one of the main characters. Something about an evil goblin kidnapping a boy at christmas. And another time i was a third class passenger on the Titanic. And then there was Aladdin when I was Missi Wishi Washi. Do you remember that Miranda?

im interested in acting, so ive always wanted to do the school musicals. problem is: i cant sing. so i never did them.
i was in a 3rd grade play that the class wrote and organized ourselves. it was a magic school bus play and the kids visited lots of different places. i was.... lets see.... a mexican girl, a math magician, and my favorite, head gumpgooian on planet gump goo. i was the spokesperson!!! yay! but of course..... that was a long time ago...... back in the good old days.

This year my school's putting on "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". Because I'm a freshman I have to be an extra, but my time will come. It kind of irritates me because my director casted a girl (a senior) as a bride when last year in the fall play (Dracula) she showed up for like half of the rehearsals, and she was only a step higher than an extra. She didn't even have a SPEAKING part.
Maybe I'm just jealous. I dont know. Last year I went to a workshop at ISU in Pocatello and we had to do a transition act. You take a part from a book, translate it to script and play the characters in that scene. My group decided to do LOTR. I chose Shelob Lair from TTT so I got to play Frodo, Sam, and Gollum. What kind of character's do you want to play in the future? I want to play Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing, Titania from A Midsummers Night Dream, Kate from The Taming of the Shrew, or Dolly from Hello Dolly. Cheers, Sam
