I believe Jackson's intention was to add that in the extended version.

I hope he is added more in the EE! I was really hoping to see when he and Eowyn meet.

At least he had a better part than in TTT. I loved his fight scene in ROTK.

There was definetly (sp?) not enough of Faramir, and often when there was a scene with him in it they would cut to some other scene earlier than I thought they should have.

One of my favorite parts in the books was the Houses of Healing and the chapter where Faramir and Eowyn fall in love, and of course they decided to move those to the extended version.

There was one other thing I noticed about how little Faramir was in the movie compared to the book: In the book the only love story where you actually hear about them falling in love, and the only one with much detail is the one of Faramir and Eowyn. However, in the movie the most interaction with Faramir and Eowyn is that they stand next to each other at the coronation, while both of the other couples (Aragorn/Arwen and Sam/Rosie) are shown getting married.

Well, while I like that scene too, it really isn't important to Frodo's quest to destroy the Ring or in the defense of Gondor...ya know?

There are other scenes that were cut that are more important than that one...

In this place will I abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.'

'Then Tuor arrayed himself in the hauberk, and set the helm upon his head, and he girt himself with the sword; black were sheath and belt with clasps of silver. Thus armed he went forth from Turgon's hall, and stood upon the high terraces of Taras in the red light of the sun. None were there to see him, as he gazed westward, gleaming in silver and gold, and he knew not that in that hour he appeared as one of the Mighty of the West, and fit to be father of the kings of the Kings of Men beyond the Sea, as it was indeed his doom to be; but in the taking of those arms a change came upon Tuor son of Huor, and his heart grew great within him. And as he stepped down from the doors the swans did him reverence, and plucking each a great feather from their wings they proffered them to him, laying their long necks upon the stone before his feet; and he took the seven feathers and set them in the crest of his helm, and straightway the swans arose and flew north in the sunset, and Tuor saw them no more.' -Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin

I think they will put the house of healing story in the EE, and then we will see more of Faramir. I certainly hope so, he is one handsome fellow!

I am prety sure they will, and I hope so. RotK was good, but I will not say that about the EE if they leave out as many important scenes as the theatrical version did.

The main plot may be about the destruction of the Ring and the defense of Middle Earth (not just Gondor), but there are other smaller plots, entwined within the main one. Like Aragorn and Arwen, or Eowyn's determinedness to fight...Many consider (however small it is) the love story of Eowyn and Faramir to be a very important one.

After seeing the movies I can get a sense of what might be added in the extended edition. I believe that they will show the replanting of the White Tree for example. There are a few other places that could benefit in one way or another form aditions, one of which obviously being the houses of healing.

I think it would be very inconsiderate on PJ's part to leave Faramir's or Eowyn's ends of the story open. The houses of healing would bring closure to both characters. Something which is needed in order to make the whole story truly complete, because the last thing we see of Eowyn she is sad and dying, and Faramir seems like he is about to die any second. I think I would like the movie far less if I found that something more of Faramir and Eowyn was not added in the extended edition.

hahahaha i think PJ like Denethor and myself favoured Boromir to Faramir personally i would prefer more of Eomer than Faramir. Faramir got the scene were he talks to Denethor about Boromir living instead of him, which is a perfect scene great acting by both John Noble and Diver Dan... Eomer didnt really get any great scene he had great bits like when Eowyn was telling Merry to be couragous and you could tell they were both nervous as hell then Eomer strides in on his horse with a look at the orcs saying "bring it on mother****ers" i just think Eomer deserves more than Faramir

Faramir is a more important character than Eomer. I also missed the Houses of Healing. Edit: and the Nazgul dart.

Did anyone also notice that in one of the trailers of RoTK you see Eomer kneelinh next to Theoden's dead body, and this ain't in the film. An obvious addition in the EE.

I agree, and not just because Faramir is my favorite character. Faramir is very important. His choices affected the fate of the whole story; what happened to Frodo, Sam, Gollum and the ring. While Eomer was important, he was never faced with such a crucial decision. I wouldn't mind more of Eomer, but it's Faramir's character who wasn't resolved in the movie, and Faramir was a more important character in the first place.

From what I remember seeing, it looked pretty much the same White Tree that simply came back in bloom again.

Well, the total extended running time will be five hours... so plenty more scenes! They could even get the entire Scouring Of The Shire in, I guess o.o

But I agree. More Faramir!!

I really like the way Faramir was played in ROTK, but I agree about the Houses of the Healing. With as much time as RJ spent showing how unhappy Faramir and Eowyn were, I'm surprised he left out their meeting (or pushed it to the EE).

I think, if they include the bit about the king's ability to heal, that instead of taking time to find a new sapling of the tree(which I did think was a very good scene in the book), they would have that somehow "heal" the tree as well. It's a similar idea just portrayed in a different manner.

Good, that was another added scene I was anticipating. And one that I think is needed very badly. I personally would have liked to see more of Eomer as well. He was such a badass character in the movies. I was especially disappointed when he and Aragorn didn't draw swords together at Helm's Deep and I feel that he needs something more in RotK.

That's a good suggestion, Fallasion. I could see that working very well for a movie audience. That is, if they do the houses of healing correctly. I like that idea a lot tho. And, welcome to the 'Moot!!

Thank you for the welcome.

I too was looking forward to seeing Eomer's scene sobbing on the field over I guess it was Theoden's dead body. I've been playing the trailer on the my comp and going over that part frame by frame and I can't tell. The hair does kind of look like Theoden's though.
