New movie review reveals major changes... SPOILERS
Spoiler-haters begone!
I don't know if this has been posted before, I did a search, but since 'cut' is too short is wasn't that accurate. The link is http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=16603 . Apparantly he's cutting Faramir and Eowyn. I'm going to curl up under the table and hope it isn't true. Bye.

Yes, I saw that one too.
There is also another review up with spoilers galore, and there is something interesting there, too... SPOILERS:
Don't know what I think about that...suppose it could be dramatic if done well, and the reviewer says Sean Astin deserves an Oscar for his reaction... Katie |

Obviously, my post contains giant spoilers
What you said above, Katie, is discussed in another thread if you want more information on it. (The one called "Book deviations and movie spoilers" or something.)
Eowyn is not cut, because she slays the Witch-King. Do you mean they're taking out her marriage to Faramir? Boo and hiss to that!

Yup.
But I have realized that, thanks to my resignation from all movie debates, I am no longer obliged to watch RotK at all. Which is good, because it frees me from the mangling of Denethor, Gandalf, and Elrond I learned about from another review at: http://www.theonering.net/staticnews/1070750601.html. EDIT: Whoops, sorry. The link should work now.

Actually, I found this review reassuring. It's nice to know what changes to be prepared for. But I totally discount the "sky is falling" scenario the review tried too hard to create. It was written by the same type of individuals that keep telling us all how horrible FOTR and TTT were.

This sucks like ..... like... something I'm not allowed to put here anymore So, then Eowyn and Faramir don't get to hook up... that's really sad. That's one of the romantic parts of the book that I like to read. |

Well that's certainly a stunning testimony to their love.

I wonder if Jackson thought it would seem too "sudden" and unbelievable to just throw it in there... it would take a considerable amount of time to depict Eowyn and Faramir moving toward one another to begin with. Without that, for them to just say, "Hey! Why don't WE get married too!???!" could come off as quite silly. The audience will still be quite aware that she has feelings for Aragorn. The sense of time we get in the book would be harder to convey at one sitting of a movie. Didn't someone here mention that this would make the extended edition? That's one thing I think of when seeing extended edition scenes... they give so much more full of a vision of the whole story. I watch those parts and I just say, "Yeah! That makes it SO much more complete!!" I expect they would have been too scared to try (3) 4 hour movies from the start though... the notion of (3) 3 hour movies was probably scary enough. Ruinel... I don't think you have to avoid saying ANYTHING! Just because we've gone through "The Scouring of the Moot" Let's all just measure our words and not try to incite anybody... That old song, "Why can't we be friends?" was going through my mind this weekend. |

well... I guess the only thing I can really say is that I have to wait to actually see the movie and see if the spoiler is true. Yet, many thing's have been said about the RotK, which has severly disappointed me. And truthfully, the only reason I am going to go and see it is because of the scene between Eowyn and the Witchking of Angmar, my favorite scene in the book. If the spoiler is true about Eowyn and Faramir... Ill cry ='(
