Gimli and the Ring: SPOILERS!
Well, the news is just leaking that Gimli attempts to destroy the ring at the counsel of Elrond. Isn't that just a bit redundant? I mean, we've been through that in Hobbiton already. Do PJ et al actually know how to write a script?

Re: Gimli and the Ring: SPOILERS!
i think it's sad that anything about the movie needs to be marked as a spoiler, because that means it's something which shouldn't be in the film

Could you post a link to a source? You must be joking. I find that very hard to believe, just a rumour I think.

Re: Gimli and the Ring: SPOILERS!
There's no guarantee it makes the final cut, but it's definately in the script and it's definately been filmed

Re: Gimli and the Ring: SPOILERS!
You have no problem with Gimli hacking at the ring on a table in the middle of the council of Elrond? Which of course means that the ring is sitting on a table in the middle of all those people. Which totally goes against many things, since most of them didn't want to be tempted.

Re: Gimli and the Ring: SPOILERS!
Yeah, none of them did. Who would?
I'm just shocked because .... why? What's the logic behind this meaningless addition to the plot? |

Re: Gimli and the Ring: SPOILERS!
What a ridiculous notion to even think of putting in the film! Why would they bother? As Tater said, it does go against many things! I truly hope that scene does not make it into the movie. There is so much to cover in the books. Why are they bothering to make up stuff and changing stuff? Sacreligious! (I`m sure I probably spelled that wrong). Yeesh, just stick to the story, guys!

Re: Gimli and the Ring: SPOILERS!
The idea of the Ring sitting around in the middle of the table isn't exactly news... wasn't it shown briefly in one of the trailers? Or is my memory not exactly at its best...

Re: Gimli and the Ring: SPOILERS!
Pretty sure I don't remember that. In fact, Frodo should be rather hesitant about letting other people paw at the ring you'd think.

Re: Gimli and the Ring: SPOILERS!
In the latest trailer you do see a table in the midst of the Council, but there's no Ring on it and Gimli isn't any closer to it than anyone else.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that it won't happen. Like the rest of you I hope that this scene is not included in the movie.
