Re: Your Favorite SciFI Series
gee, that's a tough one.
I'd say... The robot/empire/foundation series by Isaac Asimov (hey; it's all one story) The Thrawn trilogy (SW) The Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy (SW) The... rest, a lot of which I haven't read... (SW) next comes The Wrinkle in Time series by Madeleine L'Engle and when I'm looking for a lighter read, The Galaxy of Fear series (SW). One might say they are kids books, but what I liked about them is the way the books are expertly planned out. The series got a bit less interesting after the first 6 books (a total of 12), but at least the author knew when to quit, thus not letting his books go into gradual decline as all scholastic series do (think of Goosebumps, for instance). I just loved the ideas in some of the books... Probably my favorite non-series sci-fi was The Transall Saga BTW, I haven't read Dune; I've only even heard about it recently... |

Re: Your Favorite SciFI Series
Mine are:
1.The Jedi Acedemy trilogy 2.B5 series 3.the three chronicles by Applegate (I liked those books but I think the rest of Applegate's books lack something important) P.S.I haven't really delved too much into reading Sci-Fi books, been concentrating on fantasy more |

Re: Your Favorite SciFI Series
Never could get into anything Asimov ever wrote... especially the Foundation Series which in my estimation was the dryest and most boring of his work. Which is really saying a lot.

Film Hobbit: Yes, the action is mostly in the background. I'll agree that they're not very exciting at first, but which ones have you read? Here's the Foundation series in the order of happenings in the books: Prelude to Foundation Forward the Foundation Foundation Foundation and Empire Second Foundation Foundation's Edge Foundation and Earth Brewhaha: That was your 30th post! Right on!
Those are THE best in the field. Only, I've only read part 1 and 2 of Otherland, since the rest haven't been released in Denmark yet. Bummer |

Re: Your Favorite SciFI Series
I think they have got to part 3 in Sweden but since I want to read them in English I have to wait a little before I can get book three. I hope it is just as good as the two first books were.

Re: Your Favorite SciFI Series
Oh, I read mine in English as well, since to much gets lost in the translation otherwise.
Nothing beats the original language, eh? |

Re: Your Favorite SciFI Series
-Dune trilogy (ie first 3 books)
-Foundation trilogy (ie original trilogy) -Babylon5 TV series (first 4 years, and the series' last show; fifth year was a dull filler) |

Re: Your Favorite SciFI Series
To all you other Dune fans...
Have any of you read the new book DUNE: House Atriedes by Herbert's son? I picked it up, really expecting it to be a cheap attempt by his kid to cash in on Herbert's success.... but the book is actually really good! I found it every bit as enjoyable as some of Herbert's Dune sequals... and just a notch below the original Dune book. I was rather shocked by how good it was. If you haven't read it go pick it up. |

Brewhaha
B5 was good.
Could have been better. If the actor that played Sinlair hadn't quit the show after season 1, the rumors are that the big finale after the five years would have been the Sinclair turning himself into Valen... That would have been the real shocker... but 'lywood is like that: people leave, people come back. Strassazzziddkanski (forgot the right spelling!) did a good job though at keeping a good arc... except for season five, which was monstruous, especially after an exceptionally good and important episode like "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars", the finale of season4. Anyways... |
