Female rulers of the Kingdoms in Exile.
Numenor had a few ruling queens but, I do not recall any in the Arnor or Gondor. Was there always a male heir?
What if a female was 1st born in Numenor or ME.

No female rulers for either Arnor or Gondor. Arvudui of Arnor/Arthedain made a claim (in addition to one made for himself) to the throne of Gondor for his wife Firiel the daughter and only surviving child of of Ondoher king of Gondor, who died with sons in battle, citing the law of Numenor. The council of Gondor rejected the claim stating that in Gondor the kingship was reckoned through sons only.
In Numenor the law was different at first but eventually became that the eldest child of either sex got the throne, however, female heirs with younger brothers usually refused the scepter. Last edited by Lefty Scaevola : 08-13-2003 at 11:31 PM. |
