I am going to buy some books!!!!!
It is my birthday and I got $45 bucks in Books a Million gift cards! and I got some money from my grandparents... So I am going to go to Books a Million next Saturday1 and buy a bunch of books!
Here is what I am considering: The JRR Tolkien Biography A Einstein or Alexander the Great bio The History of the Lord of the Rings books (If they have them.) The Visual Guide to Lockpicking Ancient Engineer Suggestions? Comments? Rude remarks? I already have piles of books to read, now I will have more. I need a vacation. I want to see mountains Gandalf, Mountains! 1 It is a 1 hour drive to get there. A friend (who shares my birthday) and I are going to go to the Japanese Steak House and Books a Million if I get my drivers license tomorrow. Last edited by emplynx : 01-27-2002 at 10:53 PM. |

The only reason nobody posts is that they don't want to post in a forum where nobody post.
Books sound good- I can't think of any rude comments. You'll have to insult Harry Potter and wait till HOBBIT comes for those.

I like Harry Potter! But right now, I have to finish Unfinished Tales. ( heehee...I love saying that...) Then on to History of Middle Earth! Yes!!!
Anyway...wow, emplynx, that was a cool birthday present to get with a driver's liscence. You can use it whenever you want to! (Unlike certain poor, parent-dependable people.)

I like this forum-may I reccomend, non fantasy/sci-fi wise that you dig into some crime novels. Best start with A.C. Doyle and Agatha Christie.
BRILLIANT BOOKS! P.S. I wish 45 bucks to spend on bucks. But I can't, I live in England I use pounds instead. If anyone, other than Bilbo, likes the double joke then start becoming very frightened.

Try P D James (I have all of her books). They're excellent.
Dale Brown if you like Techno-thrillers and Clive Cussler if you're into Adventure-thrillers. David Brin, A C Clarke, Harry Turtledove, Kim Robinson if your preference is Sci fi. Tolkien, Brooks and Jordan for Fantasy. Arthur Hailey for what I refer to as Power novels. and that's about it. |

*is zoned thinking about what she'd do with $45 to spend on books*
Oh, yes. It all sounds good to me. If you're into mysteries, Rex Stout and Laurie R. King are good authors. Grisham is a good author too. But buy what makes you happy, and that's what counts! Happy Birthday! And congrats on your license! *is still waiting for a permit*

I'm not going to recommend any, b/c (as you can see if you look at the date) that it has been several months since your b-day. Are you going to tell us what you got w/ your $45 dollars, emplynx?

The best Tolkien analysis, if you can find it, is Tom Shippey's Author of the Century.
