7 Ancient Wonders of Middle Earth

I saw a show on Discovery a while back about the seven ancient wonders of the world, and that got me thinkning. What were the seven ancient wonders of Middle Earth? This list, as ours is, is limtied only to structures, so the one ring and the Silmarrils don't count. Also, include why.

I haven't finished mine yet, but so far I've chosen
1-Gondolin
For me, this city represents the strongest fortress to be raised up against Melkor during the war against him. It was a symbol of hope and defiance.
2-Isengaurd
Even the Ents could not bring this tower down. A hollowed out volcano, perfectly smoothed sides, not even a crack.
3-Minas Tirith
The seven walled city was the main opposition Sauron faced, and it held out.
4-Angband
This is where both orcs and dragons were created. It would be very interesting to see where and how this was done.
5-Lorien (as described in The Book of Lost Tales)
It was described as a place of rest and dreams. A beutiful place to go to and stay.
6-?
7-?

Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

There are far too many to choose from but I think Barad-dur should be included. I can't find a description of it right now but it sounds like one amazing tower!

I don't think Fangorn or Mirkwood can be included because they aren't really architecture. I think we should only include man-made (or elf-made, dwarf-made, etc) structures, but that would drastically narrow down the possibilities. Webwizard, what do you think?

Menegroth? I mean - the "palace" of Thingol. And what with Tol Sirion?

Yes, that's what I meant when I said limiting to structures.

GandalftheWhite, Moria is an excellent choice, almost the opposite of the pyramids.

What about Valinor? Technically, that was in Middle Earth in the ancient times, so would that be counted, too?

I thought it was only within the circles of Arda, as opposed to actually being a part of Middle-earth. Might wanna check your math on that one.

Also, as stated above, options are limited to structures.

We definately need to include the fortress at Helms Deep- you have to admit it did pretty well to last as long as it did against goodness knows how many raging Orc warriors (Its also my favourite part in TTT!)
Edoras is pretty cool too- not as impressive as Rivendell or Lothlorien (But should we expect men to compete with the beauty of elves) - pretty none the less. Mx
