Gandalf's screen time in TTT
I sure wish that Sir Ian would have been given more screen time in TTT. He is such a powerful character. I realize the story itself prevents him from having a really large role in this portion, but I just wish they could have worked in a few scenes of him before and during the battle of Helms Deep.
I hope this is remedied in ROTK.

You can usually tell if they are trying too hard to work a character in more often. I was happy with the way it was done.

A cut to Gandalf searching the countryside for Eomer and his troops wouldn't have been too exciting for the audience.

I do wish there were more scenes of Gandalf in TTT, because I loved him so much in the FOTR. But I realise that his character is scaled down in the books as well, so I won't complain. I suspect he will have a small role in the ROTK as well, since the story will focus on Frodo and Aragorn, as I think it should.

I agree with the others. I love Ian, but Gandalf was a mysterious little character, only popping up when needed. That is the nature of Gandalf, anyway.

Gandalf's screen time in ROTK will be more than in TTT. But even more importantly, he will have some unforgetable scenes in ROTK that will become instant classics such as:
Gandalf versus the Lord of the Nazgul at the gates of the city. Gandalf's "we must keep the eye on us" war strategy advice. Gandalf's negotiations with the Mouth of Sauron. Gandalf's reunion with Frodo. Gandalf's farewell comments at the Grey Havens. |

BB:
Let us not forget Gandalf's confrontation with Saruman. Man, there is a lot that has to happen in one movie. Do you suppose that the confrontation with Saruman will be in the extended TTT? I realize that is unlikely, but I'm afraid that the ROTK theatrical release will seem really chopped and rushed.
