Animated avatar's

Alrighties . . . I have been noticing ppl's moving avatars. But I have no idea how you make them move. Somebody told me they were animated gif's . . . what's an animated gif? How do you animate the gif in the first place? I'm clueless. Could somebody fill little old me in here?

basicly u have a timeline, and a series of frames,
u put an image or text into each frame, but change it so that it moves from one frame to another.

animated gif. = the finished file that u produce. Instead of a normal gif or jpeg, the file contains many frames of images, and then plays then in order.

They are quite easy to make, and anybody can get some of the freeware and put one together.

For more advanced Movie style animated gifs: you could use a video program like adobePremiere, or animation program Macromedia flash. which both cost over £200 ($300 each), but you can download 30day trials, but they are hard to use.

what about paint shop pro 6?
i don't do this for a living, but i find it really interesting.
haha it doesn't surprise me that aldesign knows about web animation!

sometimes i just find moving avatars but i dont bother getting/making moving avatars it's just confusing for me

I made mine using a combination of Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and Adobe ImageReady. At least, in adobe photoshop, you have to make each different frame on a new level if you want a slide-show like thing. You also have to toggle opacity and such.

If you want something moving, just make one frame and move it to it's final destination for the second frame. Then you use the tween button.

It took me a while to figure out (the manual was no help), but eventually I got it.

you can go to badassbuddy.com and they have a whole bunch like lord oof the rings and stuff.

I made things like the miving avatars at school called gimp animations. They are also .gif files

i have one thats movi ng on a nother thread but its to big its 80x80 and i dont no how to make it smaller but i am to lazy to do it so i look for one thats my size
