Yay, contact lenses!!!

I was fitted for them today and then given them!! Fnally, no more glasses for school and movies(the only times I need them because I'm near-sighted)! Does anyone else here have contact lenses?

Re: Yay, contact lenses!!!

Yup... I found it greatly improved my life, honest.

I hate wearing glasses... unless it's sunglasses

Re: Yay, contact lenses!!!

Within a month, you'll find it easy to put them... never takes me more than 2 minutes to put em both... and so fun no to have to worry about glasses.

BTW, when you buy contact lenses, make sure

1) you have a pair of glasses in case you lose/break/scratch one your lenses
2) you buy inexpensive lenses so you won't (really) bother losing one.

Oh, and you can go in the pool WITH your lenses, but try to avoid opening your eyes too much in the water (makes them all dirty and you might lose one)

Glasses

Heehee!! I still have glasses and am not submitting to the idea of contact lenses! (even though the *bleep*ing lenses are about a half-inch thick by now lol)

Contact lenses changed my life. Now, I can see while:

Swimming (Yes! I can even open my eyes underwater)
Diving
Wakeboarding
Playing tennis
Wear normal sunglasses.

When I first got them, I found them really hard to put it. Now, it takes about 1 minute to do it.

Trust me, it's well worth it...

Contact lenses are wonderful. I got my first lenses when I was a senior in high school. I felt like a new person w/o my glasses.

Ok I finally got my contact lenses on Friday. I can put already put them in in about 5 minutes, and take them out in about 10 minutes...hey what are you guys talking about, swimming with them????? My eye doctor type person basically said that whatever you do NEVER go into water. That means showes, brooks, streams, ponds, even pools. She said that some sort of bacteria or whatever (pretty common) is in our water supply ... and that things are absorbed by the contacts and burrow into your eyes, so within days you are blind. She went on to tell me about various people who went blind by going into pools with their contacts.... um is this a lot of balogny or what type of contacts are you using?

Contacts? Lucky folkies! I wear glasses, and I sorta want contacts, except I'm not allowed to have them b/c my eyes dry out very easily as it is, and so my eye doctor's afraid to let me wear contacts. Go figure. Oh well.

Contacts aren't as good as say LOTR-but they're pretty close

I got contacts about 7 years ago. I'd been wearing glasses since I was about 9, so it was a big change. It made me feel almost like a different person. I don't even notice the contacts when I'm wearing them. The only way I can tell if I have them on or not is by my blurry vision! I still use my glasses a lot though, for evenings and sometimes weekends when I feel like taking a break from contacts. A friend of mine wore his contacts too much and the skin on his eyes got oxygen-deprived so his blood vessels started growing into his pupils--yuck!

If you have problems getting them in it's probably because, like I was, you're paranoid about touching your eyes. I used to be so afraid that something would get in my eyes. I couldn't let anything get near them. So you have to overcome this before the contacts will go in easily. Practice just touching your eyeball with your finger and see what it feels like. It doesn't hurt, it's just unfamiliar! Make sure your hands are clean, though! And don't have super long nails. When you're confident touching your eyes, then contacts will be no problem.

I never could touch my eye for them, i tried getting them once when i was.. 4th grade. was really freaked out about touching my eye. Everyone i know with them says you get used to it after a week or so, so i figure i'll give it another go sometime soon

Contacts are so good. I have had them for 6 years now. It takes a bit of time to get them in each morning, but everything is fine once they are in. Glasses always used to fall off of my face when I had them.
