Poison terror alert in London
Anyone any thoughts about the finding of "traces" of ricin in a flat occupied by "North Africans" in London?
Ricin is a highly toxic (LD50=0.001 mg/kg) protein that can be extracted from castor bean plants. I think it's what was used in the Markov "poison umbrella" assassination. The media seem to think it was a terrorist operation. If so it looks like MI5 and the French secret service did their job well. But you have to worry that eventually something will slip the net.

Lodon is far too paranoid about these things generally, it comes from having tony blair so close. here in manchester we're concerned, but not panicking. it sounds more like an assassination attempt rather than a mass killing plot. Its good its been foiled, but it must be pretty easy to find a way in which it can be spread airborne. massive aerosols are not an impossibility and that unfortuanetly will probably be a possible next step.

Well, terrorism's an issue... but London isn't in as much danger as we are in the US, I don't think.

I'm waiting for the Al-Quaida link. Seems like those guys get around a lot these days. Miranda is right: Live for today- tomorrow is too far away! You can't let them win by living in fear.

Not saying we should be scared, just saying it makes you think.
Funny how we used to be so worried about Soviet nukes. Now it's six blokes in a bedsit with a reasonable knowledge of biochemistry! Anyway lethality is one thing, delivery is another.

Coney, I seriously pity you. If i lived that close i'd move, or plant a cockroach family in his kitchen. I think that should be the new conservative motto: Blair's A Clampet!

Well the poison terror has spread right here to manchester. a policeman was stabbed to death when he went to arrest a someone in an anti terrorist raid. 5 of his colleagues were also seriously hurt.

Don't know much about planting cockroaches..........but while Clampet was just an MP a few of us did (half-seriously) consider sneaking into his garden and planting a few marajauna shrubs, and then phoning the local press ........might have saved the country a few probs if he'd been nabbed in a drug raid |

That would have been incredibly good and cunning plan. Please find some way of going back in time and doing that. oh but in hindsight he could have just said they were his son's. but still i wish you'd done it.

Me too. some times I just have to think how lucky I am. To live without fear each day. to have fresh water, electricity, T.V. all these luxeries that so many people dont have.
