The Country Music Thread
I'm getting kinda sick and tired of being the only Country music fan out there, Espescially since I kow there are others (fans, that is) on this board. So I'm starting this thread- and we don't have to limit discussions entirely to country, so no one has to be excluded.

I like some country, "rockin-retro" style I guess. Dwight Yokum, MARTY STEWART!!!!.... BR549 are waaaaay cool! The Mavericks, (are they still together?) I like hearing Hank Williams grandson (HW lll) sing, he really sounds like his grandpa, and a hardcore hillbilly! I don't keep up with the new stuff though.

I was actually walking through the hall today, and I heard a CD player playing Toby Keith- so naturally, I started singing along.

Oh, I'm old and out of the loop! I kind of "do" country music channeled through my husband, who grew up with it. I hated it till I met him.
I loved rockabilly, so when some of the new artists in the eighties (told ya I was old!) picked up a rocking, retro, hillbilly beat, I signed on. My husband likes bluegrass, and old style stuff. He loves Johnny Cash (the man in black was/is cool! That "low end "guitar style of his is great! ), and classics like George Jones, Hank Williams Sr, and Merle. We like to watch The Grand Ole Opry if there is good stuff. I don't like a lot of the "Pop" country chart stuff, but I'm a boring old lady! Since MTV bought CMT, things have gotten more fun for the young country fans! I like anything with a good rocking beat that I can dance to though! Oh I forgot about Junior Brown and his "guit steel" He's great! He plays on some of the Sponge Bob Square Pants cartoons. heh heh!

Wow! I'm not as out of it as I thought! I know some of those songs! Now just as a trivia game...."Rodeo" is Garth Brooks...Right? "Sold" , yeah that auction one, "She's Gonna Marry That Boy", one of Trisha Yearwood's early hits, "Don't Take the Girl" is one of those ones I can't turn off quick enough! tooooooo sappy, corny for me! That's Tim McGraw? he does alot of those "Heavily cheesed" songs! Sorry.... they kill me! "Kick a Little" is great up-tempo, rock-country, (versus country-rock! ) same as "God Blessed Texas".
I was grossed out last night to see Pammy Anderson hamming it up with Tobey Keith ( ? ) "Who's Your Daddy" guy, She's gonna help do some award show....Bleah! As if Dolly Parton wasn't enough huge fake boobs crammed in your face, now their hauling in Pam Anderson! Rock-n-Roll must be sick of her! I really like The Derailers, The Mavericks, BR549, Junior Brown, Webb Wilder, Marty Stewart, Oh, I said that already

YEAH! He had a nice ad running in the trade mags a couple years back when that came out. A full page shot of the elderly "Man in Black" giving the middle finger to the country music radio industry that wouldn't play that song. Johnny Cash is one righteous dude! His voice and trademark guitar sound gives me shivers!
