Hmmm.
You know, I could have helped write that. Er... not 'write' per-se since there was no writing involved, and I don't actually know that person, but in a hypthetical sort of sense. Myself and a few other people did something very similar a few years back - ran through an entire summary of the Silmarillion for some non-readers, complete with explanations of how everything was driven by an incessant desire for shinies. Oooh! Shiny!

As I said, there was no writing involved. We did it as an impromptu stand-up act in the cafeteria one night when someone asked for a summary of the Silmarillion. Our version was a bit longer, but very similar.
Interesting to see that someone else had the same idea.
