I am an expert on the Wind On Fire Trilogy. It is the second best series of books. (first obviously LOTR) If you loved Tolkien's stories, You'll love William Nicholson's

I LOVE those books!

It's about.. Well, it's kinda hard to explain without telling the whole story to you.

The first one's about how twins, Bowman and Kestrel, live in a very...not good city named Aramanth. The authorities separated the city into 'sections'. If you lived closer to the city center, you were richer. Your family "rating" comes from tests that each member of the family takes.

In the middle of the city there is the Wind Singer. It's kind of a legend, that once it used to 'sing' but the voice was taken away. The series, actually only the first book, is about Bowman and Kestrel trying to find the voice of the Wind Singer.

The other two books are really good too. I would recommend them to anyone.

I like your avatar, lollypopgurl!

Yes, the Wind on Fire trilogy is great. I must say, though, that Firesong was rather disappointing. Not sure why- it just wasn't as good as I expected.

I LOVE these books!!!! I've read all of them. I think the Wind Singer was the best....the zars were scary! The idea of making them little children was great! And their ruthlessness, the song they sang and everything....and the part with the crack in the land where they just kept falling in until they walked over each others bodies....truly terrifying!

I think slaves of the mastery was somehow my least favorite. Although I loved the Manaxa. I'm not really sure why, it just was.

Personally, I think Firesong was just a little disapointing too. Don't ask why.

I loved the series, a while ago I had a yearning for them, and read the series in a couple of days - and I met William Nickolson - he was really cool

I thought firesong wasnt as good as well, one reason was the ending. Kestrel - awww! that bit was cool, but it wasn't a happy ending as such, yea, Bowman and the little sister (cant remember her name!) got married, but Bowman was meant to be their King - not go off and rule another Kingdom!

Also they didn't have any true enemy. In the first there was the Zars, the second the Master, but the third....the were some foe, but no real evil enemies.
