Horcruxes
This is the thread where you can talk about horcruxes, where they are, what objects they're in etc. Firstly, i believe that harry is one of those because of several reasons:
1) The green light that harry sees from when voldy tried to kill him nearly 17 years ago can't be avada kedavra because it doesn't distroy buildings in the process (look at the Riddle house for example). However, the Horcrux spell appearently does (from the one case of it trying to be used(whether intental or not, we don't know yet)). 2) If he did create six of them, and if dumbledore is right in what he says ("You distroyed the diary and i the ring" "secured objects from Hufflepuff and Slytherin (locket)", looking for an object from Ravenclaw(and managing to find it, of course), not being able to find Gryffindor's sword. (Quotes from HBP Ch 23)), then that leaves harry as one. Hense how he managed to survive that night. Like to hear your views on the subject Last edited by jammi567 : 05-21-2006 at 02:16 PM. |

because i think if he had made all the other horcruxes by this time, and the fact that he had a passion for collecting things that were special in some way to him, then the boy who was most likely to kill him (ultumatly) in later life ("The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches" ch 37 OotP - the bit he was told about) i think would be the ultimate trophy to him.

Wait - you mean he didn't try to kill Harry, but tried to make him a horcrux, in spite of the fact Harry is the only danger on his reign? But in order to win Harry he'd have to kill him, thus losing a part of his soul... I don't think Voldemort would do that.
About your first point: The house was destroyed because the Avada Kedavra crashed into the protection spell and was reflected... something that never happened before it seems. During the process the house was destroyed. Btw - check this other thread about Horcruxes out: http://entmoot.com/showthread.php?t=...ight=horcruxes Last edited by Radagast The Brown : 05-21-2006 at 04:53 PM. |

yes, but he had just killed James and Lily, thus having split his soul up two times already, i would think. so if he had killed harry, yes the soul would split, but i'm sure that there must've been a way to put the soul back together - after all, look at all the killings he supposidly did...

I don't have the 6th book with me here, but I think it's clear that not everytime one murders his soul splits. There should be intention and knowledge in dark magic in order to create a horcrux.

and voldy had plenty of that. "But how do you do it (split your soul)" "By an act of evil - the supreme act of evil. By commiting murder. Killing rips the soul apart."

well, i disagree with jammi that he tried to make harry a horcrux, be he is right on that. every time one murders the soul is split. the horcrux spell just contains it...

yes, but i think that had lily ran away when voldy murdered james, then there wouldn't have been any protective charms on harry for the horcrux - creating spell to reflect off and hit voldy.

yes, but voldemort told her to stand aside, so she would've died for him anyways...

yes, but what i was saying was that if she had stood aside or ran away to save her own skin, then there wouldn't be any protective charms for the spell to reflect off, so the horcrux - creating spell would've worked.

I still disagree; but let's drop it.
Back on topic- You didn't really answer why would Voldemort want to make Harry a horcrux when he wants to kill him (unless he wants to make a horcrux of the body of the baby??). About all the horcruxes Voldemort probably has - 1) Diary, 2) Ring, 3) Locket, 4) Hufflepuff Goblet, 5) Something of Ravenclew, 6) Nagini. The last two are guesses made by Dumbledore... Like Khamul said on the other thread, I think he may have transferred some of his soul unintentionally; but he wouldn't have done it intentionally IMO. |

About the locations... I have no idea. I don't think we're supposed to know either, it'd probably be in places Rowling hasn't told us of yet. |

a good question...i think we're going to find out more about his past and there will be more locations that have meaning for him...either way, something from his past...
