I'm very much looking forward to it. Movies that involve history, particularly ancient history, are often very appealing to me .

I love historical (though Hollywood does use the term loosely, but meh) movies too! The website looks really cool. I watched the international trailer, wow!

I WANNA see dis movie!!! I mean, who cares about Orlando Bloom- it's got Liam Neeson and Jeremy Irons.... and it's directed by RIDLEY SCOTT, people! One of my favorite movies of all time is Gladiator. I can't wait to see this movie; everthing looks fantastic in the preview- even Bloom, come to think of it. Besides, it's the whole knights thing. I love knights and swords and shtuff. "Be without fear in the face of your enemies; be brave and upright that God may love thee; always speak the truth, even if it should lead to your death; defend the helpless; do no wrong; that is your oath." *SMACK* "And that is so you will remember it." Just great.

I want to see it too. I just wish I could watch an epic without Orlando Bloom...

He's a good actor. If you want to see a movie without him, though, "Arthur" is a good one.

RIGHT! DO NOT GET ME STARTED! ( I mean that!) Orlando (actually) yup good actor: we cannot blame Mr Bloom for the LOTR trilogy adaptation. he was at the time (relatively) unkown, and did well as per direction. (thats not even a go at PJ - see RPG: lyrd of the ryngs the homies: for that! (non serious content warning) forgive me one and all on Entmoot but unless you have produced yourself don't be so ... oh! Forget it! I know what's coming and would be there with you myself in spirit! anyway Nough' said ... |

I've heard that a few orthodox xtians are against it because it paints a nasty picture of the Crusades and doesn't spare the 'good guys' from any mud.
Frankly...if its at all representational of the historical facts... I wouldn't be surprised if it did. It was a dark period for Catholics. I'm looking forward to seeing this flick... I just hope that he doesn't do to this movie what was done to Titanic (turn it into a love story instead of an epic war) |

See THEOLOGY thread #549 - 553 or so (at present) for info in regard to this area of crusades.

Someone who is more knowledgeable about history than I am should start a thread on the Crusades!
Thanks for the heads-up, Beren - I think I'll check it out.
