EEEee..... Aragorn = little kid?

OK I was reading the Appendix in the back of LOTR and I was reading Arwen and Aragorn's story. Now, Aragorn aged quite slowly, since he was 87 at the time of LOTR and he appeared to be what, 40 something?

And if he was 20 when he met Arwen, he would have physically been what, 10?

I don't think it works like that . . . he just has a really long life, not an extended childhood.

Numenorians (and Aragorn was a descendent of Numenorians) age normally until they reach adulthood, only afterwards do they start aging slowly.

Yeah, that's what I thought. But did you mean Aragorn in the book or Aragorn in the movie? That would really determine what forum it goes in, I think.

Aragorn in the book is described as having grey hairs, I think, so he would be middle-aged in appearance.

I thought his hair was described as on the verge of turning grey.

i think the exact description was 'dark hair flecked with grey'. but then i could be totally wrong
but if i'm not, then that could be the appearance of anyone from their late 30's onwards

WAit wait wait...

If Arwen turns human she would age normally then, yes? Faster than her husband? So in the end, it might be Aragorn weeping over the grave of one lost to old age....

Just a thought. it's late, and correct me if I'm mistaken...

No. Why would you think that?

No, she wouldn't age normally. She still had a significant amount of Elvish blood in her - even more than the amount in her uncle Elros' veins. He lived a very unusually extended length of time because of this. She too would age gracefully and surely would not die before Aragorn, whose Elvish blood had been diluted to a small amount.

If you read the appendices, you'd know she didn't die before he did.

She was made mortal, I assume she would age like a numenorian of the line of elros-she'd live for a really long time, but she laid down her life soon after aragorn's death as laid out in LOTR.

Aragorn said on his deathbed that when he was dead she could choose to go West and live forever, so I don't think she aged at all while she was married to him if she still had that choice.

No she could not go west, Elrond gave his children one chance to go west and she refused so she could be with Aragorn, therefore forfieting her life.

Very true.

Why did Aragorn say it then? It would just cause her pain.
