Baseball Playoffs 2003 Thread
Well it seems nobody else started one of these, and we're already about to start the second round.
I don't really follow the NL much during the season, so it was surprising to see the Braves getting beat by the Cubs, who seem to have come out of nowhere. This is the first time in 95 years that they have won a playoff series. Good for them. Marlins are also surprising. Since when is I Rod on that team? The A's are losing to the Red Sox right now, and this game will determine the series. I'm not sure who I want to win to take on the Yankees in the next round. By the way, I'm a big Yankees fan. I am a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. I haven't seen it in a while so I don't know how they are doing.

I'm a Cubs fan, so I'm rooting for them. The baseball fans here are going nuts! Anyone from around Chicago knows what I'm talking about.

I have been a Cubs fan for as long as I can remember, even though I have lived all my life in South Alabama. I am also a Braves fan. However, I don't mind the Braves losing to the Cubs. The Red Sox are my favorite AL team. I've liked them for several years. Death to the Yankees. If there was a Cubs-Red Sox World Series, I would be happy no matter who won.

But the Red Sox are jinxed, and will never win the world series again.
In the NL, I'm rooting for the Cubs. They're overdue for some great postseason moments. |

That's okay; we got first blood, we're ready for more.
This is the year, I just know it; I have a feeling. (And I'll just keep telling myself that -- the power of positive thinking will work it's way up the coast and carry the Red Sox to victory -- at least over the Yankees, that'll be enough.) |

this kind of thinking among the red sox faithful has lead to many horrendous unbearable disapointments at the very cusp of victory. and this has been going on for generations and generations. so mind the curse. theres no worse feeling in the world then convincing yourself that youve won the race only to have it snatched away from you yet again in the end. it hurts so bad...

The through-the-wickets thing with Buckner doesn't really bother me. I was only about a year and half old at the time, so I wasn't too concerned with who won the World Series. It was just the first thing that came to mind.
