If you could make movies...

If you could make movies...what kind would you like to do?

I would make movies that are visually stunning or artistic.

I just saw the preview for Musa: the Warrior over here and it looks quite amazing.

I just watched a film called Volcano High. It wasn't subtitled but visually I really enjoyed it.

I would probably shun romance and comedy unless they were different in some way.

No big American explosions.

I'd also stay away from lite hollywod trite.

However, that's in a perfect world.

If someone offered me a lead role in brainless summer block buster I'd be there.

I would probably make movies that have a message to them. I had come up with an idea for a movie about 4 years ago. I would put a synipsis of the movie on here - but I don't want Entmoot to claim ownership.

I have a friend in Oregon that writes screenplays and I have another friend who is going to college to become a screenwriter. I would like to get someone that could turn it into a movie. I was told that the movie sounded similar to Minority Report. Which it is - except with a different aspect and possibilty in the future. But the style of the film would match very much to Minority Report.

im a simple man and i have simple dreams. Movies i think are there primarly to entertain nothing more and nothing less. I love Bond movies because they are just pure entertainment. MY idea of a good movie is if after 2 hours or so i come and and think that was good fun i enjoyed that im pleased.

I hate movies that upset me, i rember watching philedephia and crying and it really upset me and i though thats not what entertains me films should perk you up and make you happy.

Fellowship of the ring was the expection to the ule it also made me think and i loved it for that it made me want to read a book and i mean for me thats the ultimate cos i never read books.

I agree about this. When I first met my friend from Russia - we went to the movies in LA and saw Jerry McGuire. Afterward - she said it was a typical American movie. I asked her why - and she said because it had a happy ending. Everyone's dreams came true. I told her that I go to the movies to escape from reality. Why would I want to always go to movies that I left feeling depressed afterward? Then we got into a discussion about the differences between America and Russia - and it ended up that Russians didn't really see much of a future - whereas she noticed that Americans have a much more positive attitude. We think anything is possible and that the good guy comes out ahead. She said our movies reflect this attitude - whereas she said most Russian movies are depressing (at least at the time).

nowt wrong with the good guy winning! Movies are a form of entertainment and i dont find anything entertaining about been depressed or been so scared i cannot sleep not my idea of fun.

I also dont like loser comedy movies. I hate to feel sorry for losers i find them deeply depressing even if they are ment to be funny. i never understood why people liked Mr Bean that depressed me greatlly and i felt so sorry for him. Even American pie made me squerm a bit cos he was just a loser and theres nothing funny about that, My idea of comedy is something like hot shots or naked gun just shear stupidty.

I'm tired of fairy tales, though. I want to see something I can connect with - that is good entertainment. Happy films are usually more depressing and annoying because life doesn't normally go that way. I like tradgies, personally. It leaves you thinking about it. Happy stories always fade away - you don't wonder about them when they're over.

Plus, Americans don't give bad guys ANY credit anymore. And without them there isn't any good guys.

I was always under the impression that Americans don't give any other country credit, paticularly when it comes to war movies.

Well what ever country produces a movie - it's going to be from their stand point. I had heard that the Russian sailors that survived the K-9 accident were upset by the movie K-9 because it portrayed them as arguing and drunk. The sailors said that if the movie was produced as it was written they were suing. I don't know how they were portrayed in the final movie - I haven't seen it. I also don't know much about the K-9 accident other than what was brought out on the news - so I can't say whether the movie portrays the sailors properly or uses simple stereotypes. I'd have to see the movie and do some research before passing judgement.

I agree that America is constantly saving the world - such as in Independence Day, Armegedon, Deep Impact. But hey - we made the movies. And historical war movies are still movies - they're always modifidied for the audience. Since the majority are made in the US - they're going to be portrayed from an American standpoint.

That's true as well. But I wasn't refering good/bad to America and other countries at war, I just meant in general - good guys are the "winners" and bad guys are the "losers" and it's mostly in real life the other way around. In reality bad guys are usually smart enough to get away with it. Usually, though, in war Americans were mostly fighting, what, communists an such? So in those situations America would be seen as "the good guys".

I prefer films that aren't cookie cutter, 'lite hollywood trite'. I'm a hopeless romantic at heart, but I hate movies (and books!) with incredibly predictable endings and 'twists'.

I'm don't like books/movies that end with a sugar coated happily ever after, but I also don't like it when no good at all happens. I recently read a book where every single main to semi-main character ended up dead or mutilated. There was absolutely no hope.

I prefer a nice mix in between, more like in real life. The bad guy can win, but so can the good guy. And even if you 'win', this doesn't mean you end up happy (example: Frodo, before he leaves for the Undying Lands, anyone?)

I would like to make a movie that makes people think, but still holds the element of entertainment.

I like really sad movies, and I like movies with massive random twists. So I'd make a massive random movie with sad twists.

If doesn't want the job BoP, I'll take it.

I tend to concur with RE and Starr.

I can picture BoP lining up Olympic Judges to judge your performance as she reviews the tapes.
