Green Flash
Has anyone seen the green flash?
In case you don't know, the green flash is a natural phenomenon that occurs at sunrise and sunset over the ocean. It is caused by the sun hitting the atmosphere at a certain angle, diffracting the sunlight like a prism. The result is a flash of green light, and this only happens in the best conditions (whichever those are).

YES!! I DO know about the green flash; I'm excited to be reminded of it. I learned about green flash a few months ago, when I was photographing a sunset off the pier of Manhattan Beach. An old guy saw me taking my photos, and told me about it, so ever after I've tried to catch it with my high-powered digital camera, but so far to no avail. Apparantly, it's quite difficult to catch; I'd have to set up my camera to snap repeatedly during those crucial moments when the sun slips down the horizon, and as of yet I haven't been fortunate enough to see it never mind snap a photo. But, I looked it up on Google and found a plethora of successful photographs, so I hope someday to get lucky.
Have you ever seen the green flash, troll's bane?

No. And as for anyone, they'd be real lucky to see it in their lifetime. I'd like to. There are whole groups of people who are green flash hunters. YOu can probably see it at least once, but you'd be pretty lucky to get a picture.

I hope other mooters among us who've seen a green flash will tell us about it. I guess it IS pretty rare, but - I'm really interested to hear someone tell about the experience.

You know, I have never heard of a "green flash"!
Now I will be at the beach every sunset with my camera... like I need something else to take up my time.

I think one of the eriest things in the sky are the Northern Lights. I saw them in northern Norway, years ago and it really is a sight to see.

Well, that's something I'll never see here! Well, not likely. Someone told me they saw it as far south as Laughlin.
