The Famous Person Chain Game
Here's a little game I picked up from another message-board. In this one, the famous person has to have one of the names from the previous entry above, and you have to indicate how they're famous.
Like this: Henry FORD - Automobile Inventor Then the responding post could be something like this: FRANCIS Ford Coppola - Movie Director Then the next one, something like this: Sir Francis BACON - Renaissance author, courtier, and father of inductive reasoning. etcetera... Have fun!

All too easy. Fork over, buddy:
Jean-Michel COUSTEAU (yes, that's how you spell it), son of Jacques-Yves Cousteau (god, has it been 10 years since his death already?) and documentary-maker in his own right.

Im am ashamed.... I have been defeated. Oh, well, I can part with twenty.
*Grudgingly hands a twenty dollar bill to Earniel* I didnt even know that other people knew about him, almost know one I talk to does, his son I mean, but Jacques was my role model, and sorry about the misspelling. a Anyway, take this! Jean-Michel Basquiat- artist who's humble beginings make me laugh. I hope that's not too vague...

You hope that's not too vague... Hmm. O.K., let me ask you this, Nautipus: Do you know ONE single other famous individual who happens to also have the name Basquiat, first OR last name as such, besides this artist? One single other one? Do you? I surely don't, myself personally... Basquiat is not an even marginally common name. But perhaps I am wrong, perhaps there is another famous Basquiat roaming around out there on this globe whom I've never ever heard of...

I'm going to be totally, despairingly honest...No. i cant really think of one right off the top of my head. Could someone not use the first names again? Or maybe break them down? Or have I dug myself a hole, and should hand over the reigns to someone elso while I skulk away, alone and ashamed?
Seriously, If I've hit a dead end, sorry. Lotesse, why dont you take it from here while I offer up a thousand apologies and attempt to redeem my manhood.

O.K., I'll tell you what I like to do - and by the way, Famous Person Name chain game is one of my favourites; it's cool to see it pop up here at entmoot. But listen: So, say you need to find another Jean-Michel. Well, that in itself is a tallish order, but you could go with Jean alone, and there's a lot of Jeans out there, right? Jean Cocteau, Norma Jean Baker, etc. - so, find a Jean, and go from there, rather than try to use both names from the double-name hyphenation. OR, barring that, say you DO find another Jean-Michel, and that's not too difficult. Google the name, just google it (Jean-Michel)and see what it throws back at you. And if & when you find someone you recognise, a famous person, famous for anything - great strides in science, a vacuous celebrity, a sixteenth century composer, whomever - well, use the full name, and make the carry-over name the new person's middle name (which will oftentimes be much easier to carry over than trying to do so with rare or extremely unique surnames.)
O.K., like this: I am going to use the word Jean from Jean-Michel Costeau to carry over, so... NORMA Jean Baker - Birthname of legendary screen goddess Marilyn Monroe. Now, the name "Norma" will be the new name to be picked up by the next player. Norma's a fairly abundant name, there's a good number of famous Normas floating around, I'd say... O.K., have fun! This is a real fun game, I love this wee time-wasting bit 'o fun, one of my favourite messageboard games, this...

Tom BAKER - English actor, most known for his Doctor Who role. I don't think there is a rule that you have to take first name and last name alternatively, is there?

Baker? You didn't know any Normas off the top of your head? Google Norma and you'll see a few. There's Edith Norma Shearer, the silent film star, and Norma Talmadge, another silent film star, there's Norma Desmond, the fictional aging actress of the film Sunset Blvd - see, 3 Normas right there, and I would have used Edith Norma Shearer, because then I could have carried the game on with the name EDITH, and the player after me would have had something to go on.
But you don't continue the chain with a name not specified by the person before you. Quote:
And Hanks, are there any more famous Hanks's in the world? Did you google the word Hanks and find a few so you'd know your following player would have something to use?

I think you had it right Earniel...but maybe I'm hopelessly delusional and dont know a thing. But yes I beleive you are suppossed to pick a name yourself, rather than the preceeding player pick one for you. That said, Hank Williams jr. you say? Well here's a good one:
John Towner Williams- Composer who wrote songs for Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jaws, E.T. and more. (I added the middle name in there just so everybody'd have more choices, hope it helps )
