I really hope Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Garden State get some nods...most likely both for Best Original Screenplay, though.

I'm a bit disappointed that 'De Zaak Alzheimer' didn't make the nomination for Best Foreign Movie.

SHREK! Shrek is the ultimate animated ever. Disney got beaten big there. The Incredibles isn't that bad. good enough to lick Shrek's shoes anyway.

Thats pretty mean ...you have to admit, Monster's Inc was the best by pixar . Shrek wasnt bad, but not too great. But Shrek 2 is the best! Of course because of Harold and P. Charming

Anyways, more about oscars. I understand why John Williams, John Denby, and so on got nommed for best scores. But Thomas Newman's score for the L. Snicket film? I liked that movie, but the music to me seemed mediocre, and I wasnt impressed.

I'm rooting for The Incredibles because even though I liked Shrek....it was more of same. There was nothing really unique about it...Sequals generally don't do well anyway.

The reason sequels don't do well is because they're usually so far off from the first movie it's insane. I think Shrek 2 is the best sequel since Toy Story 2 (and I am most certainly including The Two Towers in that statement). It's updated computer graphics should at least recieve a nod, I think. I thought the story was a lot better fleshed out and complete than the first movie, as well.
Did anyone catch the spoof on Legolas's cheesy mount on the white horse? It was great! I think Finding Neverland's score nomination was deserved. The music in that movie is very beautiful. Very period, but at the same time not stale. I also liked the fact that it caught the ear without being intrusive to the dialogue, contributing to the emotion without over-powering. I liked it, and hope it wins.

What about Love Actually? I thought that movie was completely brilliant.
I love Shrek and Shrek 2 equally, they are brilliance. I haven't seen The Incredibles or Shark Tale, but Shrek rocks! What did get a nomination for foreign film Eärniel?

I haven't seen Shark tale, which looks like sort of rip off from Nemo. only sort of. I don't really think it is. I think the movie is great, not as good as Nemo, maybe. Remind me about I need to see Shrek 2 soon again- Long time, no see.

I've seen Finding Neverland, and Ray.
Ray was very good from an acting standpoint, and a very good story- and of course because Ray Charles just died it is a lot more touching. But I think the Neverland is a much more original movie, and therefore it gets my vote out of the two. Neverland does not follow the true story of J.M. Barrie and the Llewellyn-Davies boys closely at all. What struck me about it is its adherence to the theme of Peter Pan. This movie successfully conveys the emotions of Peter Pan better than any dramatised version of Barrie's play, I think. It celebrates childhood while embracing growing up; it's a bittersweet tale of the loss of the innocence and heartlessness of children as they grow up, accepting the wisdom and responsibility that comes with adulthood. There's a million different movies out there about over-coming adversity in its many forms, a million love-stories told a million different ways. But there are not too many stories so beautiful as this one and, despite the changes to the facts, the truth of the story remains. I hope it wins, really.
