Tolkien History
Does anyone know the family tree link between Aragorn and Isildur? I've been able to track Isildur back to King Thingol(Elwe) and Melian the Maiar and Aragorn back to Arador on his fathers side and Aranarth on his mother's but there is where I lose the link. If anybody is obsessed enough to be able to help me with this question I have many more and perhaps I could help you.

Re: Tolkien History
Isildur is Aragorn's ancestor. Isildur's son Valandil started the line of Kings of Arnor who eventually became the Rangers. According to "The Languages of Middle-Earth," these are the direct line from son to son from Isildur to Aragorn
Isildur Valandil Eldacar Arantar Tarcil Tarondor Valandur Elendur Earendur Amlaith Beleg Mallor Celepharn Celebrindor Malvegil Argeleb Arveleg Araphor Argeleb II Arvegil Arveleg II Araval Araphant Arvedui (Last King of Arthedain) Aranarth Arahael Aranuir Aravir Aragorn I Araglas Arahad Aragost Aravorn Arahad Arassuil Arathorn I Argonui Arador Arathorn II Aragorn II hope this helps |

Re: Tolkien History
Still, you had to look it up, type it all out. Some people might not have even taken the time.

Thanks
Thank you very much for answering my question. My appreciation knows no bounds. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. What book did you get it from?

Re: Thanks
It's in "The Languages of Middle-earth" by Ruth Noel. For some reason they stuck a detailed family tree in there. You should be able to pick it up in your local bookstore.

Re: Thanks
You can find the same stuff in the Appendices, Appendix A. You are right about Elwë. As a matter of fact you can trace Isildur's lineage not only back to Elwë, but also to Ingwë (or at any rate one closely related), Finwë, Beor, Marach and Haleth (and thus Haldad). Aragorn and Arwen's children probably had the claim to the noblest lineage of their time.
