Rekindling of The Two Trees of Valinor?

I was reading the Book of Lost Tales 1, and on p. 200 I found this: "...Many things shall be done and come to pass, and the Gods shall grow old, and the Elves come nigh to fading, ere ye shall see the rekindling of these Trees {telperion and laurelin}..." Did this concept carry through to LOTR? If so, wouldn't the Two Trees we rekindled around LOTR because the Elves are fading then...
