anyone know what daro means?
sorry for the slightly strange question, but i have a friend who is reading tolkien (in Hebrew) and she loves elvish. she's trying to translate as much as possible of the elvish in lotr and is doing quite well, i think! theres just one thing she hasn't managed to get, and that's what does Daro mean??? it doesn't appear in the silma or anywhere that she's managed to find. i promised to ask everyone here, but i doubt anyone will know
can anyone help? |

Re: oh yeah...
From The Languages of Tolkien's Middle-earth by R.S. Noel. Although I have been told that it is not the best source.....but it is all that I had.

Re: oh yeah...
I have a Quenya/Sindarin/English list, Daro is Sindarin for 'Stop'.

Re: anyone know what daro means?
Daro ~ is the imperative form (dar- "stop halt") to add just a bit Daro!

Re: anyone know what daro means?
I thought "daro" meant "boo !!"
Legolas starts to climb the tree, and the other Elf says "BOO!!", startling Legolas. |
