Steve Irwin's Baby 'Stunt'
So what does everybody think about Steve Irwin holding his baby while feeding a crocodile? Check here for more information. And it's possible that he will be Australian of the Year -- should he get the honour now?

I always figured he wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, the shiniest coin in the fountain, the brightest crayon in the box, the... well, you get the point.

I think it was far worse than Michael jackson's idiot balcony. At least if Michael dropped his baby - there wasn't a hungry crocodile there to snap it up for dinner. Also - his lame thing that his baby has to be brought up to understand crocodiles - come on - the baby is FOUR WEEKS OLD.

I personally think it stinks. He is deservedly in crap for doing this.
I thought Australians didn't like him anyway, because he is such a stereotype? (The same applies to Crocodile Dundee.)

The man's a complete idiot. Though - on second thoughts - perhaps not so, because he's achieved valuable publicity for what he did.
I saw footage of the stunt. It was sick, I thought, especially the bit where he was making the child 'walk'. And whatever was up with his wife? Letting it happen, suggesting that the baby really enjoyed it? I'd suggest that any mother with sense would have smacked Irwin round the head, taken the baby and gone - and never looked back. I did notice during the footage that Irwin was watching the crocodile very carefully. But that won't help if the crocodile does turn nasty, and Irwin slips and falls while trying to get away. And all this just as we've heard a saltwater crocodile consumed a grown man and trapped two others up a tree for virtually a day. |

It sure looked like too much of gambling. So the crocodile was supposed to understand that the food was in his right hand, and not his left ...

I just saw the video... he was in an animal show at some amusement park.
I wonder what his son is going to think when he sees this when he grows up. |

I think it was a silly stunt, and if he had time to think he probably wouldn't have done it. And the baby's only a month old -- it need its head supported. I don't think it's worse than Michael Jackson's stunt. If Michael dropped the baby, it would most certainly die. If Steve dropped the baby, there's a good chance it would be all right.

But most likely, the crocodile would have lunged for it, grabbed it and eaten it whole, so the baby wouldn't have to suffer all it's life with brain damage, anyway. |

As you pointed out and I have said to others - the baby's head needs to be supported and so forth. Even if the crocodile just lunged - if irwin made any quick movements - the baby could have suffered serious neck injuries or brain damage.

I suppose somebody may have caught Jackson's baby. We don't really know what would have happened, and, thankfully, both babies are all right.

Not that Michael Jackson was right to do that. No one should put their child in danger. His wife is an adult and can choose to be on the show (as she did), but his child is not old enough to choose and should be protected.

this is ridiculous alright i may not do that with my children but this in no way compares to Michael Jackson dangling his baby over the balcony edge, i dont particularly like Steve Irwin but as dim as he may appear to be he is a professional and he was in there with 6 other professionals and i am confident that nothing could have gone wrong, personally unless you are all professional crocadile handlers i dont think it is for you to judge what he did as dangerous or not...

MAybe it's all a conspiracy...
Maybe America hates Australia because they are the "real terrorists", and the LOTR has subliminal messages saying that America is Sauron, and they needed an excuse to bomb NZ/australia area, so our government makes this Aussie goon famous so we'll think Australians are stupid... then makes him do dumb stuff so everybody get's mad and next thing you know we're dropping bombs. shhh don't tell anyone -btw aussies and their pet kangaroos are awesome. Even aussies without pet kangaroos. Even aussies with smelly, dangerous koalas-
