Do YOUR friends frustrate you?
Ok, does anyone get annoyed by their friends (if they're not Tolkien fans at all) when they say a LOTR character's or actor's name wrong?
I do, so far my friends have been able to make these mistakes: Legless (Legolas) Orlando Briar (Orlando Bloom) Ian McKing (Ian McKellen) Aragorn (Legolas (don't know how they get mixed up )) Boromir (Aragorn (again, don't understand mix-ups )) The following two were mistakes made in a Science lesson, in which we were learning the Periodic Table: Argon (Aragorn) Bromine (Boromir) hmmm...i swear the last two were on purpose...but anyway! if YOU have had simular situations, post here!

My sister calls Frodo 'Freddo' (it's a chocolate bar in the shape of a frog) just to annoy me!

similar name problem
My boyfriend has the "similar name problem."
He gets Arwen and Eowyn confused (not just the names, the characters). And he's not sure of the difference between Sauron and Saruman. I'm sure JRRT gave these characters similar names on purpose - but why? Any ideas? -Eglantine |

My friends don't get the names confused very often, but they frustrate me anyway. One friends comment: 'I'm not going to read the books unitll I see RotK, because I want to be suprsied'
AAAAAAGGHH! Aslo, they do call Ents 'the Trees' sometimes.

guy 1: "Ooo i like gollum!" (all guys are silent for a second...which is uncommon) guy 2: "....which one is that?" guy 3: "Oh isn't he the elf..." guy 1: "-no-" guy 2: "the dwarf?" guy 1: "No, the 'they stole my preciousss' guy...!" guys 1, 2, 3: "OOoooooh" guy 3: "you mean that he isnt an elf?!?" I was like AAUUUGH but i had to re-divergt my attention as the friend was apparently awaiting my response to a question. |

Funny thing, I had the opposite effect happen, over the Christmas holiday I was watching the Godfather trilogy with my family and I kept saying "Frodo" instead of "Fredo"

In this place will I abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.' 'Then Tuor arrayed himself in the hauberk, and set the helm upon his head, and he girt himself with the sword; black were sheath and belt with clasps of silver. Thus armed he went forth from Turgon's hall, and stood upon the high terraces of Taras in the red light of the sun. None were there to see him, as he gazed westward, gleaming in silver and gold, and he knew not that in that hour he appeared as one of the Mighty of the West, and fit to be father of the kings of the Kings of Men beyond the Sea, as it was indeed his doom to be; but in the taking of those arms a change came upon Tuor son of Huor, and his heart grew great within him. And as he stepped down from the doors the swans did him reverence, and plucking each a great feather from their wings they proffered them to him, laying their long necks upon the stone before his feet; and he took the seven feathers and set them in the crest of his helm, and straightway the swans arose and flew north in the sunset, and Tuor saw them no more.' -Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin "Oh. What bothers me more than movie-goers-but-not-readers who mispronounce is readers who do. One of my professors insists on leh-GO-las. Like, learn some elvish, man.

Same thing happens to me!! Bleurghelbaba. It annoys the hell outta me!
Legolas= "Hot elfie" and "WHOOO boy!" ((that was my aunt -- lol)), "Blondie #1" Aragorn= "Adam", "Acorn", "Arrow", and "Greasy Scary Man" Frodo= "Fro-go", "Frog-o", "Ring-holder", and "Big-eyed grasshopper" ((when I heard that I nearly killed her...I don't know why he looks like a grasshopper to her....)) Haldir= "Hallie", "Blondie #2", "Dear" Peregrin ((Pippin they get right, but when they try to say his real name...watch out))= "Pear-eh-?", "Perry!" ((One of my friends said it should be Perry and Merry, not Pippin and Merry. LoL, gotta agree wth that one...)) I'll post more when I remember them...my close friends have long since learned how to pronounce the names -- at least around me, because if they don't, I kill them. *evil grin* --F.G.-- P. S. Sam and Frodo are meant for each other!! The way they look at each other in the movies...either that's very good acting or they truly harbor feelings for each other ((I think the latter is the truth)). Now all of you are looking at me like and right?? Well THINK ABOUT IT!!! wahahahaaa.... I'm not crying, believe me...or maybe I'm tearing with mirth...I like that word... I also like the word mithril...it's just pretty....
