Golden Compass - to be released in December
This one looks like it's going to be SO much fun to watch on the big screen in a theatre! I saw this film-trailer just now and immediately thought of all you guys here at 'Moot, wanted to share what I found. I think you all would dig it the most, I know I sure do.
Here, here's the trailer-link: http://www.filmdrunk.com/post.phtml?pk=402 http://www.impawards.com/2007/poster...en_compass.jpg

I'm looking forward to it. Nicole Kidman and Eva Green are great actresses, and I'm interested to see Daniel Craig play someone other than James Bond. Not to mention the story looks interesting; not just another Tolkien knock-off, you know? It looks pretty original.

If you ever get a chance to see Our Friends in the North, you can see Daniel Craig on good form in a great mini-series.

I used to love this book, and the movie looks pretty good! I haven't read the book in a long time, I'll have to reread it before the movie comes out.

Looks like they found a use for all that leftover software from the LOTR films.
Great cast though. Did I spy Emmanuele Beart in there? |

I've never read the book The Golden Compass. My sister did, in about three days flat, so I might just pick it up. Heck, I've finished three out of the four books I was working on, so I should have time.

Time to re-read the Northern Lights again! Loved this book series (well, at least the first 2, book 3 was a little disappointing). I have a HUGE crush on Daniel Craig, can't wait to see him in this!!

One of my favorite series, the Golden Compass was the best. I am not sure if the movie will be as good as the novel, but I do not think it will. By the way if you liked the Golden Compass I suggest reading East by Edith Patou, it is really good.

I'm very happy with the casting. Especially Eva Green.
I have very high regards for the director as well, so my hopes are high. I did hear a rumor that the ending might be different, which would be a shame. I heard that the original ending isn't testing so well, so the director is getting his buttons pushed by the penny-pincher's upstairs. It would be too bad...the book had a great ending! I believe if this one does well, they're going to make the next two back to back, LotR style. Anyway...three cries for Armored-Bears! |

I usually read the book before seeing the movie, but this time I've decided to see the movie first. My Eragon experence was a bit disappointing.
This is going to be so flipping hard

Ooh, I hate doing that - the movie's usually too fresh in my head for me to enjoy the book. Better to have a disappointing movie experience than a hard book experience, IMO.

Yeah you're right. I might break down and read the book before December. Who knows?

I was just about to ask: 'oh, when does it come out?' Never mind it's even in the thread-title. I swear, blind as a bat sometimes....
I think I might go and see it (I rarely go to the movies) if only for the sight of polar bears in armour and that lovely concept of daemons. Oh and Acalewia, these books are better than Eragon, trust us on this.
