Let's go camping....
This topic came about from an earlier discussion in 'What is Your Favorite Book in the Trilogy'. We kinda got off topic, so I thought we might continue it here, to try and keep that topic pure. Some of the things discussed are: Where do you like to camp? What reading material do you take with you camping? What activites do you like to do camping? I personally am interested in knowing if anyone has read "A Walk In The Woods"? It is about walking the Appalacian Trail, and I akin it to the arduous journey of Frodo and Sam.

Hmm, well I've never actually gone camping. I'm not that big a fan of the outdoors :P. I prefer staying indoors while on vacation .

There's all these bugs... and it's cold and dark and no computer :P. I guess you'll just have to wait til the campers find this

I've camped, and although it's fun, I don't have a chance to really camp out too often. I do hike fairly often though....

Let`s camp!
Set up the tents! Grab the marshmallows! I do love those flaming black marshmallows! Yum yum! Crisp 'em! Who`s got the weenies? Ben, you don`t know what you`re missing! Get away from that computer once in a while! There`s a whole universe to explore out there! Ok, where`s Hernalt? Guess he got lost going for those 6-packs! Oooo - maybe the Blair Witch got him! ((smirk)) :-)

Hi Jaro!
So where did you go and what did you do? I`ve done a lot of hiking this summer and fall, but no camping. Next June, a friend of mine and I are hiking Muir Woods North of San Fran. Anyone interested, come join us! There are some trails that overlook the ocean! I`m so excited! I`ve never been to the Pacific coast! The farthest west I`ve been to is Cleveland. OK, no comments from the Peanut Gallery! HEY! Don`t be hogging all of those smores! Pass them 'round! Didn`t Hernalt get back with those groceries yet? I`m in Pepsi and Twinkies withdrawal! Gotta have my hostess cakes when camping!

Tales..
We need some tales 'round the campfire. Anyone have a copy of the trilogy? I don`t usually take books along on a camping trip. Who`s going to read the first chapter for us?

A Walk In The Woods
Haven`t read it, but I would love to walk the Appalachian trail. I`ve seen some documentaries on the trail. It looks like a fantastic hike! Anyone up for it? hehehe.

Re: A Walk In The Woods
Well, although I've never hiked the whole thing, I have hiked small sections of the Appalachian trail, seeing as I live only about an hour away from it.

I live in Boston, and sometimes my ather and I kayak out to the out islands in the harbor where you can camp. Very nice.

Adirondacks
Hey, we did the same thing, except we canoed out to our island, and it was in the Adirondacks. We were about six miles from where we put in, and were trying to beat a storm that was coming...it was very intense!! But man.....was it beautiful!!

Sounds like a nice time! It`s cool to do things w/ your father. My father and I used to drive around together a lot - just the two of us. It`s nice quality time!
