OK this is the thread where we compete for most up to the minute coverage!
Am gonna check times on my post in other thread. I must have been first cos your thread is newer so to you! Anyway, you missed on the editing one which FotR failed to get so there's actually only 11 still to go. Current score: FotR has won 1 of 2 covered so far. |

Thanks, guys, for keeping us who are currently away from TV posted.
I am checking the oscars.com website and they're saying Moulin Rouge got make-up. *weird*

Just out of curiosity - who IS that Gandalf is sitting holding hands with?
It's either a really ugly woman or it's Laurence Llwelyn-bowen off of Changing Rooms... |

Hey - even I felt that if LOTR didn't win for Make-up that they would have been cheated. But I think Momento should have gotten it for Editing.
I also felt that LOTR deserved it for cinematography.

I think someone is not on the ball tonight. Especially since they only have the 2 awards updated but 4 have been announced... Oh and congrats to Jennifer Connelly - I've thought she's cute and cool since I was a nipper and saw her in Labyrinth - a vastly under-rated film in my opinion Also I don't mind cos no-one from FotR was in that catagory Last edited by Gerbil : 03-24-2002 at 10:34 PM. |

I can't believe I'm watching the stupid Oscars. I hope that none of the actors get on their little soapbox (such as Richard "soapbox" Gere) and tell us all about how we should give all our money away to the homeless as they stand there in their diamonds and million dollar dresses.

Well they probably even had all the nominees set up beforehand so they just had to select the name that won through Radio Buttons. They didn't even have to enter anything really.

OK Fotr just lost out on another one - wasn't paying attention to what it was (I think it was art direction or summat?), so it's 2 of 5 so far, with 8 to go.
BTW just noticed something - when they announce the films for an award, FotR gets louder cheers. I doubt this is cos it's more popular (certainly not in Hollywood circles which makes up most of the audience!). I'm putting this down to the cast being rowdy gits up at the front |

"Moulin Rouge" for ART DIRECTION??????
All these bloody cheats needed to do is to COPY something out of a reference book. What a TOTALLY transparent miscarriage of justice!

A moral of the whole (after the primary symbolism of the Ring, as the will to mere power, seeking to make itself objective by physical force and mechanism, and so also inevitably by lies) is the obvious one that without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless." My point is, entering a simple bit of information like that is not exactly hard is it? So getting it wrong shows a monumental lack of either intelligence or alertness. |

After all art directon is making things look cool, fake scenery, props etc. And Moulin Rouge did look fantastic. The problem with FotR was none of it was due to the art direction - it was simply New Zealand looking stunning |

LOTR fans run in all circles. Also - it may be the extras that are filling in that are clapping loudly.

Cos then their lovely 'simple' system to 'simplify' things would have gone completely out the window once they realised they needed to change it Probably why there was a delay updating after that award while they rushed to fix their 'simple' system! |
