Orson Scott Card, anyone?
Because of recommendations on the Sci-fi forum at Xenite, I picked up a copy of Ender's Game a couple of weeks ago and have become fascinated by the books in this series. Anyone else interested in these books, or know anything about his other books?
Ender is such a compelling character, so torn inwardly between his Valentine-Peter sides. And the cybercreature Jane is something else.

Card is a great writer. There have been a few other threads on Entmoot before about him. He seems to be a crowd favorite.
The Ender series is pretty good, but I like the Alvin Maker series even more. It's about the seventh son of a seventh son who has extraordinary powers. It's set in America during Western Expansion, but things are a little different. America is not united into a single country and folk magic like hexes & charms actually work. It's a good book, and I recommend it. |

I've been wondering if that series would be as good as the Ender books. Upon your recommendation, I'll try them next! Thanks!
