Do half-Elves have pointed ears?

Yes, I know that there's a lot of controversy on whether Elves have pointed ears to begin with. We could talk for hours about the "leaf-shaped" quote, the etymology, and so forth.

Instead, I've come up with an even more bizarre question. Assuming that Elves have pointed ears, would these Elven traits be passed down to half-Elven children? Would Dior, Earendil, or the children of Imrazor and Mithrellas inherit pointy ears? If so, how long would such a trait remain in the bloodstream? What's Elrond's ear type?

This is probably an unanswerable question, and arguably lends support to the case against pointed ears... but it should be interesting to talk about.

Since we're not even sure that elves have pointy ears, I fail to see the merits of this discussion.

Well i think they do have. I think anyone who could possibly have pointy ears, does have them, because they're cool & Tolkiens world is cool, hence connection.

Whats wrong with that?

Well, there isn't a lot of merit in the discussion but it is interesting to speculate about. I would say... yes because Elrond does.

BoP is correct. I see no reason to re-visit this topic for the ten millionth time. It's as bad as the Balrog wings debates. Closing.
