True goth is bands like HIM - the best god damn band in the world!!!
I think that Manson and NIN are more metal groups, who are all very good! Evanescence - yeah I think that they're good, but not goth.

i have only listened to a bit of goth music from bands like HIM but there is now way evanescence is goth, thats just an image which has nothing to do with their music

You should listen to The Rasmus - they're another goth-type band from Finland. Sort of basking in HIM's shadow but they're still quite good!
And yeah, Evanescence may look goth but their music ain't! EDIT: No I don't think I've heard of To Die For... are they any good?

They aren't amazing but I like them , they use alot of piano and other instruments. The singers voice is good as well.

I love Evanescence! But I don't think that their goth...maybe tame goth but not REAL goth....just rock music
