What about the actors?

Not to ummm clear is it? Well basically do you think they could've chosen better actors/actresses?I probaly would'nt replace anyone but thats only because I've only seen two of them act.
What do you think about the actors/actresses they chose?Cute, good actors, whatever you want to talk about's fine with me. I for one think that Elijah Wood is way cute. Well what're your ideas on Orlando Bloom,Ian Mckellen, and Liv Taylor?

Re: What about the actors?

Well Galadriel is supposed to be the most beautiful Noldorin Elf ever and although she's far from plain being played by Blanchet they could have had someone prettier.

Agent Smith is way too ugly to play Elrond. Having said that his voice is perfect for the role.

Sean Connery would be perfect as Gandalf but Ian Mckellen is fulfilling the role very well fair play to him.

Pippin isn't how I imagined him, the other 3 hobbits in the movie all look memorable but Pippin looks too normal if you know what I mean.

Arwen could have been cast better too for the same reasons as I pointed out for Galadriel. Perhaps Alyssa Milano ( Phoebe in 'Charmed' ) or the bond girl in the James Bond film ' The World is not enough' opposite Denise Richards ( she was the princess in Braveheart, she's French I think ) would have been better.

I don't think the guy playing Faramir looks rugged and noble enough, he looks like Boromir's gay brother.

I've seen a picture of the guy playing Gil-Galad and I think he is excelent as Gil Galad. I doubt that anybody's noticed but he and many many actors in the movie are actors in a terrible New Zealand soap opera called 'Shortland Street.' I've spotted at least 10 who will be in the movie. Having said that they don't look at all bad as their coresponding characters in The Lord of the Rings.

I think P.J's done an excelent job at casting for the most part.

Re: What about the actors?

Strider (since we haven't really seen Aragorn) is hot. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. :P
Legolas is a pretty darn hot also. I am concentrating on how they look as I have only seen Wood and McKellen act before. I like both of them as actors and I think they will do a fine job. I'm looking forward to seeing how well Pippin and Merry act together....to see if they have right chemistry on screen. From what I have read about them, this shouldn't be a problem. Also what I've seen of Frodo in the trailer, he seems to be right on target. I think he will be the one that I am most impressed with.

Re: What about the actors?

How can none of you have seen Sean Astin act before? Hasn't anyone seen Goonies? And wan't he in "Rudy"? Or how about Harrison Bergeron?

Personally, I think Sean Astin was their best casting choice, I can't imagine anyone better suited to play Sam as an actor and as a person.

Most of their casting decisions have been good, and after seeing Ian McKellan as Magneto, I'll even go so far as to say he was a BETTER choice for Gandalf than Connery. Liv... well I love Liv.

Its nice to see they didn't go out for big name actors for the title roles. It seems they instead looked for quality rather than star power. Good job.

Re: What about the actors?

Connery would have been a good Gandalf, but he's too obvious and also too big-name for something that should have an ensemble cast like this. Having seen Ian McKellen in XMen (well, duh ) I think he will make a very fine Gandalf. I have seen Sean Astin's acting, (Memphis Belle, Harrison Bergeron) and indeed made time to watch Bergeron because he was in it.Perhaps it's a genetic/environmental thing. And he even looks like Sam, as well as being able to handle the part. I think that Elijah Wood will do well also, even if he is a little thin in the face. Orlando Bloom I know nothing about, so can't comment. Agent Smith will be just fine, even if his looks aren't quite what we'd expect. The only problem I have with Cate Blanchett is that dorky hair I saw in the trailer. Anyone who can pull off Elizabeth I as Cate did a couple of years ago can do Galadriel justice as well.
Liv Tyler, I dunno. I'll believe it when I see it. Viggo looks enough like Strider/Aragorn to play the part, but I've not seen him act either. Sean Bean as Boromir is something I am looking forward to.

Re: What about the actors?

Connery would have been all wrong. Mckellen's a much better actor and much better for the role of Gandalf. Blanchett doesn't look like the hideous idea of beauty that Hollywood has created, but she has a natural beauty that is perfect for Galadriel. Now Liv Tyler, how can I even begin to complain about that mistake??? Yeesh.

Re: What about the actors?

Holy cow, I forgot that I have seen both Sean Austin and Cate Blanchett act and I love both of them. Where is my mind lately?

Nothin up here

"Pippin looks too normal? Are'nt Hobbits supposed to look normal?Boyd and Wood are what I pictured Pippin and Frodo to look like if you know what I mean.
I think that Galadriel looks too pale(ww.tolkien-movies.com)I mean I pictured her as kind of golden you know with a golden light shining from her or something like that, but in that picture where she's talking to Frodo she looks as if she's ill.

Re: What about the actors?

Patrick Stewart would have made a great Denethor, don't you think? With hair, I mean. An interesting role reversal it would have been too, with McKellen, since X-Men.

Funny thing, I was wishing Patrick Stewart was cast as Denethor not too long ago.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">
