Bands?
Just wonderin what some fave bands are. I know this has probably been done before, but this is my argument, are you ready? This thread is NOT for widely known bands, basically if its on TRL, and it costs $50 to get into a concert dont post about it. I wanna know about local, homegrown bands
A couple of my faves are The All-American Rejects and Bowling for Soup. Anyone ever heard of those guys?

many times but yeah oh - whatever. ill just move this to entertainment and keep it open . i see no point to this as local bands no one will have heard of and i doubt anyone would be willing to listen to any of them... i know i wouldnt.
*in grumpy mood*

sorry to see you in a bad mood but you would be amazed at some local bands. *sigh* some people will never understand. Where do you think larger bands started? They had to start somewhere ya know!

yes i know There are like tons of local bands around here. I know lots of kids in their own bands. Never heard them I don't think. I know some that alledgedly have recording deals or whatever with some companies. Not that having a CD now is all that its cracked up to be. Anyone can produce their own cd's now.
I don't know if all - but the keyboardist from Bon Jovi is from my home town and went to my high school.. Our band director has told us that he told him his band sucked but all in all most small local bands dont make it to be really famous and most probably suck (asuming).

SA has a lot of local bands who are really excellent, I lurv Tweak, Watershed, Mean Mr Mustard, Granny Smith, etc.
Some of the bands are now moving to the States in particular to get wider exposure 'cos the music / entertainment industry in SA isn't that big (yet) Some of my old faves are the Nude Girls, Henry Ate (AKA Karma), but unfortunately they have either disbanded or aren't releasing any new stuff

Alice in Chains is, of course, a shining example of a terrific band that never sold out. A nice mixture of pretty and loud.

HOBBIT, you don't know what your talking about. None of the bands in our school have recording deals, they just save up some money to buy time in a studio to record some songs onto CDs. My friend's band, Exit 131, has been able to do this and I bought one of their cds to support them. There's some other okay and good bands in our school, but nothing amazing.
And HOBBIT, just because they don't become famous means they suck. It's not necessarily very easy for a band to stay together after high school. I don't think you know the first thing about rock music. |
