name a boat

suppose that you owned a boat and wanted to name it something to do with Lord of the Rings (no one hear would even think of this, of course ), but since it's a boat, it has to do with water in some way. I thought it would be cool if we all thought up some names together for a boat. Just thought of this because my dad is possably naming a boat.

I think a good name would be:
Pressoise Seeker
or
Ring Finder
or
The Ringer

or something that has to do with Smeagle finding the ring in the water.

How about Eärendil's ship Vingilot? (It means 'Foamfollower') Or Loki's ship, Naglefahr, made of dead men's fingernails?

Then you would have to paint fingernails on it

I'd name mine something sensible like Goldberry, or Tom Bombadil [which I saw the other day...]
Maybe Elbereth.

Nah, a clear coat of varnish would be quite good style.

(it's named in 'The Akallabeth' - if anyone has 'The Silmarillion' handy)

Alcarondas. I wouldn't call my ship Alcarondas though, thinking of what happened to the original one... It's like calling a ship 'titanic'.

I think Nimrodel would be a neat name for maybe a little sailboat. Did that boat that Drogo pushed his wife out of have a name? (actually, didn't I hear that he fell out and pulled her in after him...?)

btw, about that fingernail boat. How much did Loki spend on nail polish every year, d'ye think?

Either the Ar-Pharazon or the Alcarondas would do...

It's like giving a huge middle finger to your enemies

Heck, why not just name it Morgoth and be done with it?

Very funny, on both parts (and this going to Rosie from the person who used to be called Samwise Lover by all of her friends? I should be trying to get her out of the way of Sam and I!)

I say Loki spend a lot. If he didn't paint 'em, then being dead and all, they might start to smell... maybe not, were the fingers there or just the nails? He could have a rainbow boat, or could confuse people by painting it a different color every week. Just as long as the nail pollish remover didn't start to eat at the nails (I think it's acidic)

Heh-heh... That asks for ever vandering commitment.

In this light I would call it "Elendil" , because it's he, who gave the biggest middle finger by returning to the land.

Not a bad choice actually. With a boat named like that you know where you stand. With a boat named Morgoth it might try to knock out some lighthouses to live up to its name.

Or, you could name it Sauron and its dinghy Ringwraith.

All in all I don't think fingernails are the best thing to use for a boat's hull. To expensive in the up-keep I think. Try toe-nails next time, Loki.

And about Sam- well, it's just too bad for all those fangirls. I am the only one who gets to have him. (check the book, it's true!)
