My dad told me about this book, yesterday, when he was driving me home from Portland. It sounds good. I'll look for it.

I read this a while ago. I thought it was pretty good. Get's you inside the kid's head, but at the same time it doesn't really seem to have a complete plot or anything. All I kept thinking of was a young Hali Joel Osmet (forgive me if I spelt the name wrong) wandering around yelling "Don't touch me! I have a jack-knife in my pocket and I can cut your fingers off!"
Pretty good, though. Engaging at any rate. btw^- the 'British officer' in your sig? His name is James Norrington, Commadore. (I'm a PotC junkie, you'll have to forgive me- I could also tell you how the line really goes....- apologies, apologies!)

Actually, my Girlfriend just read it, and said it was "Excellent, as it really opens your eyes to how precious life is, and how hard life can be."
Don't think its my sort of book, though.

I think I read a review of it somewhere. Isn't this the book where the hero's mom dies mysteriously with the pet dog as the only witness and the kid takes it upon him to investigate his mom's murder?
