Tom Bombadil Tom Bombadil

Why did they cut him out? I know of the talk of him being unimportant to the story...blah blah...but I have to say, i truly loved Tom Bombadil and thought he gave a truly magical, mystical quality to the book, in a different way than any other character and would have truly enjoyed seeing him ont he big screen. I know the book is magical and mysitcal in itself...but Tom brings something else...something elusive...yet hopeful...and dreamy..and when they visited him, they were all so happy!
Who would YOU have casted to play the part of Tom Bombadil?
