Narnia Movie comes out on December 9
So, are you going? Are you hyped? skeptical? mad? curious?
I will definitely see it, at least within a week of the release date. I think it's great that they're making it, but I'm sad because it will never measure up to the BBC Narnia movies made in the late 80's. I grew up with those, I loved the music, and who cares if the special effects were slightly cheesy? They were still very well done for the budget and technology available. Since they were made for TV, time wasn't a big issue, and they stayed very close to the books. They only got through the Silver Chair, though. I hope these Disney ones hold on until the Last Battle. Actually, I'll be satisfied if this movie is even half as good as the BBC one. I am terribly afraid that the focus will be on the special effects, creatures, and battles, rather than on character and plot development. But LotR turned out okay, I guess. Well, those flying creatures in the trailer look really hokey. Last edited by Elanor : 12-03-2005 at 09:46 PM. |

The creatures in the trailers look promising, if the story line is up to it as well I might go and see it. Definitely not in the openingsweek, though, except maybe on a sunday afternoon or so when there isn't much people interested in watching movies.
But I can wait just as easily until it comes on TV or so, I'm not as much a fan of Narnia as I was off LoTR.

I am going, not the first week though. I like the looks of it, and if they didnt screw up the story (which I dont think they did) yeah, I am deffinatly going.

I think the trailer looks gorgeous, but I am highly skeptical. I am ruined for book>movie adaptations. Peter Jackson scarred me for life. (Gimli... comic relief... *dies a little*) I will probably go see it, because it looks awesome. However, what was Peter (tallest boy) doing in the trailer to Mr Beaver? Because I swear I heard him say "Here boy" or something to Mr Beaver.

Gah. I hate living in Norway when it comes to great movies. We get to see Harry potter and Lotr the same time as you, but lesser grand movies, like Narnia, and Hitchhikers, are on cinemas here much later than it is for you. The premier on Narnia is on december 26. And I think I'm going, but the tickets aren't ready for sale yet.

Maybe Peter says that before they hear Mr. Beaver talk. They just notice this beaver following them, so they try to make friends with it...

I would like to read before going to the movie... but I started to look for the books of Lewis only recently... I found some in the library, but no Narnia. And why? Because only four have been published so far, last year and this year. I can't even see them in bookstores; but I probably couldn't afford them anyway. I wish so badly that they were in the library; but alas, no. But I think I'll watch the movie anyway.

I'm almost finished reading LWW...I've been doing a teeny bit of reading the last couple nights after my homework (sadly, calculus comes first ). I might see it with my Film class, or some friends. But I very much will see it.

I haven't read it yet - had hoped to before seeing the movie. But I don't think I want to pass up seeing this one in the theater (as often as I do so).
Looks like I may be going along with some teens from my church on Saturday afternoon. The only bad part is - I've had pretty long days at work for the past three weeks - and my own kids are starting to be 'strangers'! So... I might wait, and spend Saturday afternoon with the boys.
