More support for this being the end times. I can't imagine all that beautiful area destroyed, and all the families thrown into chaos.

1,300 homes destroyed thus far. God help them. I listened to the radio last night. It was pretty constant stream of news from all the areas being evacuated.

With all the fires in Greece, Italy and Portugal this year, I was kind of wondering when California was going to get hit, since that region is also fire-prone. Let's hope that nasty wind settles down and they can contain and control the fire.

Let's hope that no one else has to know what that's like. Although, and I hate to be negative, this wind is definately not going to help matters.

A woman at my college class today was forced out of her home in San Diego by the fires. She brought her daughter or much younger sister to class today, because they had to evacuate.
In another class, there was a woman who said her house was only a block or two from the fire, and my sister has someone in her class who was very close to the fire. The fire is too far away from my own house for our property to be in any danger at all. I was very relieved recently to learn that the Wild Animal Park in San Diego, which my family often visits, is secure. I love the Wild Animal Park. I can see the vast, dingy brown smoke cloud hanging in the sky from my house. It looks like a gigantic cloud. It's just usually the clouds are either fluffy white or thick gray, in California, but this time it's dingy brown like dirt. The heat here is very intense. It was a hundred degrees today. The Santa Anna winds were howling incessantly yesterday and the day before, carrying a ton of grit that makes the eyes sting and everything one touches rough under the finger. There's lots of static electricity present everywhere. Today the Santa Annas haven't been strong at all where I live, though. Yesterday and the day before they were, but not today. They're what's carrying the fire. One has the smell of ash constantly in one's nose, whether inside the house or outside, though it's especially strong outside. We have the news on every evening now, watching the blaze and hearing the latest information. We're very glad it's not near enough to our own house to endanger our property. Half a million people have evacuated from their homes - the number has doubled in one day - and over a thousand houses have so far been burned. Two people have died, as far as is presently known.

Like I said earlier, my house is a long way from the blaze. We're in no danger at all. I just thought I'd offer my close-up far away perspective.

I pray these winds die down enough for the fire fighters to at least control some of it. Earlier, a reporter from a San Diego news station was reporting from in front of his burning house. These fires are a horrible disaster.

Pet shelters. If anyone knows someone affected, you can pass this on to them.

White flecks of ash were covering our car when I went down to it today to drive off to college with my sister. The sun is a reddish orange glare, because the smoke cloud is blocking it. The heat continues very high, but thankfully we have cool tile floors in our house, and at college there is air conditioning in the buildings. I hid in the library while not in class, to avoid the heat.
It's very strange to me to be able to witness myself (mercifully, to a very limited degree) one of these major events I keep reading about on the news.

I heard that they think that someone deliberately started it. I can hardly believe that. My friend's neighborhood was mostly destroyed, thankfully their house was mostly saved. To think that I was living there a few months ago...

And I've heard they offering a very hefty reward for information.
