Happy Meal Frodo-hobbit with Glow-in-the-Dark Sting?
My dad (who's in the restaurant business) read in a Restaurant News Magazine that Burger King has a struck a deal with whomever and are going to make toys based on the Fellowship of the Ring movie, if the first movie does well (gee, I wonder how it's going to do), they'll do toys for the other two.
This is just sad, and cheapening. We're in for battle-mode Legolases, shooting plastic arrows at little green goblins, and hack&slash Gimlis with kung-fu Khazad whacks. Oh well. |

Come on guys lighten up, the toys would hopefully be loads of fun. It will maybe cheapen the books for others, but for those who really like the books it shouldn't make a difference.
I agree on detachable wings though, if only we could bring Tolkien back to life then we could solve the second greatest question, "Do Balrogs have wings?". The first is unknown, but the answer is 42. |

I didn't say it would cheapen the books, you can't do that. It cheapens the idea. When you start selling toys at Burger King, less serious respect and wonder is in the movies, and given to the Lord of the Rings as a whole. I don't mean less respect and wonder can be gotten from the books because of it.
Also from what I've read and seen little kids (who will enjoy happy meal toys probably more than older collectors) shouldn't see the movie. Too terrifying and un-kiddish. The battles* aren't Braveheartish, but they're still bloody, nasty battles, the Orcs are absolutely revolting and The Balrog is demonically terrible, I heard someone screamed at a private showing when the Nazgul were riding across the screen. Long term nightmare material. Should this be marketed to children? Perisil, my dad works at a place called Mimi's Cafe. *Come to think of it there's no large scale battles in the first movie, however. |

Wowie! Mimis Cafe my dad works there too what a small world, whats his name maybe my dad knows him.
And I think i am being pretty light here im only kiddin around i dont realy care if they make toys at all it doesnt bother me any. And the movie is definatly not for kids in my opinnion i mean Shelob c'mon like i said before kids who intend on seeing that should bring a extra pair of undys cause theres gonna be some major pants creamage. |

Know what would be funny? McDonalds having a Balrog toy with wings, and Burger King having one without, then they'd fight each other in ads saying that the other isn't true enough to the stories!
