Lord of the Rings: Beatles Version
Okay. I was watching the Lord of the Rings pre-show and I got this interesting fact. In the 1970's a different Lord of the Rings movie was going to be made and guess who the stars were: The Beatles! Paul McCartney was going to be Frodo and John Lennon was going to be Gandalf. No, I didn' make this up. It was the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.

I'm familiar with this as well. The Beatles WERE supposed to be in the 1960s cartoon version of LotR, but George Harrison was to play Gandalf; John Lennon was to play Gollum or someone. Thank the Valar that they did "Yellow Submarine" instead.....

A moral of the whole (after the primary symbolism of the Ring, as the will to mere power, seeking to make itself objective by physical force and mechanism, and so also inevitably by lies) is the obvious one that without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless." Just think of how they could have stopped Sauron. A wizard, Gollum, and two hobbits singing "All You Need Is Love" while Barad-dûr start toppling down.

My Little sister would LOVE that. I swear she is such a beatle-a-holic it's not even funny. Here's one: Elanor Rigby playing in the background while Sam tries to wake Frodo up after his incounter with Shelob. YECH.

Even better. They go back and make a movie out of The Hobbit. Ringo is Bilbo. Just as he's about to pick up the ring under the Misty Mountains, "Let It Be" starts playing in the caves. Ringo leaves it alone, gets caught by goblins, the rest of the company leaves him and later gets eaten by Smaug. Lord of the Rings never gets "Beatleized". That would be the coolest scenario.
