Book Suggestions.....

I am finishing up reading Silmarillion and I was hoping to get some suggestions about what Tolkien work I should delve into next. I've read The Hobbit, LotR's and now Sil. I am leaning towards getting either HoMe or UT, but I am not sure if there are other better works out there that I should get first. I really don't know

Little help?

I'm reading the Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien right now. Very informative and interesting.

I haven't read HoME yet, but Unfinished Tales is very good. It explains a lot about the Istari, my personal favorite charcters.

UT is a good start. It's in the same style as HoME, so you can gently ease your way into Christopher's babblings. Letters is also very informative.

I read UT after the Sil and it was great. Now I've started BoLT 1 (first of HoME series) and it's great too. I think it would be wise to read UT before HoME, though.

PS: I haven't read Letters so I can't recommend it, though I'm sure it's very good.

Unfinished Tales. I think it makes it easier to read tolkien's books in a particular order, which is pretty much the order of publication. So I think the order would be:

The Hobbit
The Lord of the Rings
The Silmarillion
Unfinished Tales
The HoMe series

I of course don't have "Letters" but I would think they could fit in anywhere among the others.

Letters are problem better the more you've read because then you have more insight into Tolkien's creative process.

That's my order so far, up through Sil anyway

I would suggest the Letters. REALLY cool, although they never delve into the question of the Balrog's wings...

Balrogs probably have wings (at least one of them). That's a fact, stated by Tolkien himself.

I would recommend reading unfininished tales after the sil and then the HoMe series. the HoMe books are rather choppy, due to some of tolkien's works being lost, incomplete, illegible

Unfinished tales is just an easier read and you would have more knowledge on things that will be mentioned in the HoMe books.

I thought this would be the best place to ask this:
In the Silm forum, I'm assigned to do ch. 16, "Of Maeglin." Now that I've finally finished The Silm, I wondered if any of the HoME series has any peripheral info on Maeglin or the matters surrounding that story, so I can go ahead and read that so as to be prepared when my time comes. If so, which one(s)? any info or suggestions would be appreciated.
(I plan to read UT and Letters next, but wanted to go ahead and find out about that first.)
