Happy National Day to Sweden

I just wanted to wish everyone from Sweden,, particurly Jonathan and Grey_Wolf, a Happy National Day.

I will be celebrating the day tomorrow at the Sweden Heritage Day Festival where the Swedish Ambassador will be at the unveiling of a Monmument commemorating the early Swedish colonists to NJ. I will also be attending a Swedish smorgasbord with him. They will also be having reeanctors portraying the early settlers, Swedish dancing and much more.

Again - Happy National Day to Sweden.

I'm very satisfied with that response- thanks. I don't know I should celebrate though, there's not much left of their [our]national day here. Mebbe I'll go bleach my hair.

Yes, JD, have him giftwrapped and with a nice bow on him as well. Preferably not too tall so he can fit in my closet (with the other Swede already in there from last year), tack.

Is 5 ft 6 in too tall? And if you can wait six weeks, I'll come by boat (since I have a slight earproblem when flying).

I had such a good day today. In the afternoon I went to this festivity in Stockholm where, among others, the royal family was present. There was music and singing and some speeches by popular celebrities.
I waved my little Swedish flag like crazy

Well I shook hands with the ambassador and I told him that I had a friend in Sweden. He said I need to show you the monument. He told me to tell you hi by the way and that you really need to come out and too bad your trip was cancelled. I have pics of his volvo Limousine - never saw one of them before - rather strange looking.

You're Ambassador was very nice and even though he had to go - he still took time to shake hands all the way to his car - that was like 15 minutes after he said he really had to get going.

Anyway it was a great time - and even though I was unable to celebrate in Stockholm with you - I was celebrating in Pennsville, which was the location of the former Swedish colony.

Lin - I tried capturing a Swede for you - but you didn't tell me they bite.

I should add that today's even also included honoring the Finns - although since Finland was part of Sweden at the time - they were sort of considered the same. The Finnish NY Consul was there to represent Finland. It was funny to hear the comments from him regarding how at one time they didn't have their own flag, but now they do and they have there own embassy.

Nerdanel - I got to see your Consular General from NY. He was at the New Sweden Heritage Day festival. Just thought I'd let you know. I was trying to think of who was from Finland on Entmoot.
