Tis' neither life, nor the palantir, I'm afraid.
Er...how was the palantir shortened?

In the riddle it says "Shortened for more practical use," and cassiopeia guessed the palantir I was just wondering what made (Her? Him? so hard to tell) guess that.
And NO! Mirahzi is not right! And I'm reveling in it, wa ha ha! Nope. Not happiness either. "Is it nice, my percious? Is it juicy? Is it scrumpciously crunchable?!"

Another guess Human#pi: the sapling of the white tree. I am thinking that shortened in this sense means it is shorter than the orignal tree. I am probably wrong, though. ![]()

Sorry, cassiopeia, not the trees either.
I get people's gender wrong so much online; thanks for not making have to do really wierdly structured sentences which obmit gender! ![]() Ok, that's five guesses (i think. *checks* Yup!) So here's the hint! Life and happiness were on the wrong track, though it is not a physical object. Tolkien like langauges and being very detailed in his worlds.

Duh! *smacks forehead at her own stupidity* It's Tengwar writing, of course! Or the Quenya/Sindarin languages...

Quenia and Tengwar writings could be right... I don't think Sindarin is right. and I don't have any other languages to offer.

Nope. No correct guesses so far.
It's not a langauge itself, but a detail of one. And I'm not just rambling on about the Sky made short and practical you know...

Hmm. Could it be the Tengwar symbol/Quenya word "vilya/wilya", meaning sky?

You know what? I think we probably ought to have all the people with current riddles up post the answers, and have people post new ones, because no new guesses are being posted. Good idea, or no?
