I'll tell you a story. Last year on my birthday, I encounter my cat. I say to her "Sophie. It's my birthday. You're supposed to say "Happy Birthday"." Sophie says "Mrow mowr." I laugh and go about my business. Later that day Sophie, who has not caught any small rodents in six months, comes up to the door with a giant mouse. I ask her if that is my birthday present, and she smiles.

That's a lovely story.
My Stafforshire Bull Terrier (died last summer of cancer, rest her soul) once mauled a cat that had strayed into my back yard. He shook it till it's ears bled and then it died. And it wasn't even my birthday!
