I saw The Da Vinci Code and Master And Commander this Saturday.

Though I dont quite understand the ending of CaM. Why did he turn about to chase after the French ship again after letting it go? Does anyone know?

Uh I saw it a long while ago but wasnt it because the French captain had eluded him? Something like that.

In a french movie? Of course not. They're so used to it...

If there's something I'm good at it's being able to tell if a book stinks just by reading the jacket, dedication and a random passage. I usually apply the same method to movies...

Now Gwai, I was really looking forward to an arguement, and I'm truly sad you didn't even try...

A Good Year. Cute, sentimental. Not a great adaption, though the book was hardly a masterpiece itself. Good acting on the part of the principles, a loose plot and an engaging soundtrack. Made me smile, which is worth a few bucks, anyway.

It may have been a good year, but it was a bad movie

What the heck is all this using "Cute!" to describe a movie? Does the movie wear a diaper? Is it fuzzy?

You know, I've noticed that "upside the head" seems to be quite a popular phrase here in the south...

No diaper. Yes, it was fuzzy; warm, sentimental, and fuzzy. According to the Free Dictionary, the second definition of 'cute' is: "Obviously contrived to charm..." The movie was cute.

I second the smacking upside the head. *whacks dear Hector* What, you think you're the only judge of a movie worth watching??

I have used "cute" to describe a movie before myself.

We're watching Hamlet (the real long one that's set kinda 16th-17th Century-ish...I can't quite pin it down) in English class. Very excellent-it really makes the play that much more enjoyable. There were some very nice touches in it.

The Kenneth Branagh one? I started watching his "Henry V" and I liked it as far as I had watched, but I never did get to finish it. Decidedly a big step in keeping the lines like they are in the play.

Yep, that one. I love the fact that they use all the lines...that's awesome! It really does help with getting the play.

Yeah, I really loved that aspect too. Though I notice that Branagh's Hamlet doesn't get the noise that Henry V does...I remember I was 10 when it came out on video, and I saw this huge poster for it in the video store...

btw, have you watched Henry V as well? It has the young Christian Bale.

Nope, just watched most of Hamlet so far. We'll be finishing it up on Monday, I think.

I loved one part of it-when they had Claudius' soliloquy, he delivered it in a confessional, which I thought was a rather brilliant touch, especially when Hamlet showed up on the other side of the screen.

So Branagh also accepts that Shakespeare was Catholic!?

Saw Casino Royale yesterday. Very good. I think Daniel Creig will make a good Bond, not to mention he looks good in Speedos I'm looking forward to another Bond film with Creig.

You know, I have a funny feeling he's a one-timer Bond. I just have this feeling that he'll leave before production for the next one. Clive Owen will most likely be the next pick...

For some reason, I can't see Clive Owen as Bond...
