Life after the Ring and the Hunt for the Ring
There is an interesting aspect to this "Life after Rings" problem. Here is a quote from The Counsil of Erlond:
Quote:
Perhaps even Sauron himself could not be sure. It is not true that he knew all about the Rings. Tolkien writes that Sauron believed for a long time that the Elves destroyed his Ring. That means, he did not know for certain that his existence depended on it so much. Nobody could be absolutely sure before "the experiment" itself. Now, it is probable that the nazgul were not sure about it either. So it becomes much more probable that they did everything to avoid getting the Ring for Sauron, but, instead, helped to destroy the Ring in a subtle way. Perhaps, they had some hope that the destruction of the One will destroy Sauron and free the Nazgul Rings. Then all they had to do was to dig their Rings in Barad Dur, and they could have lived happily ever after. So their behaviour during the "hunt for the Ring" was not so suicidal, as Olmer supposed. Glad you are back, GW! Last edited by Gordis : 10-07-2005 at 04:49 PM. |

heehee!!
(but it's "boy-toy", just for your reference, in case you ever need to use the word for any reason whatsoever.... ) OK, I finished the "Rian gets ready for the reception post" - let me know if you want any edits, Earniel. I put in a few things for your character.

BB , thanks for putting the maps into the info thread. Could you, please, delete the end of my "nazgul concept" beginning with "nazgul identity" and post instead the contents of my post 153? I believe, everyone agreed on it finally.
Great info on Earniel and the Swanfleet! |

Rian
a mirror at orrodel? how odd! maybe khamul had better bring zimra to task? who else may have put it there? particularly enjoyed your vivid descriptions of the jewellery and the dress ... well written! ... rian and earniel seem rather playful ... you might almost say frisky glad to see someone is rushing to the reception! Professor Bumbledore is, but in his case it'll take ages for him to walk there anyway ... am planning to have him cheerfully race a tortise through the cloisters ... not sure who is going to win...but it'll be a nail-biting photo-finish result! though time and tide wait for no man ... excepting the King! ... mmm maybe old king kanute was a much later descendent of valandil So, High king and son of finger slicer ... do we still await your pre-reception post or is the fortuitous place holder a "GO" sign...? Doc GW: glad you are back .... look forward to the guild of predators! Gor: have posted the maps and nazgul powers in the street best BB glad you liked the old prof ... yes he is particularly fond of Aiwendis ... she always seems to have a smile on her face around him too! EDIT: Gor, just seen your post above .... that's the one i posted ...ending with loves owls and art??? Last edited by Butterbeer : 10-07-2005 at 07:12 PM. |

Nay, Rian, that won't do!
THERE ARE NO MIRRORS IN ORRODEL! Rhun custom absolutely precludes that. Lilly has told you that several times. Apart from that, a nice post! |

BB, you have posted nazgul Powers in post #5, it is OK, but please, delete the end of the post #4 (Nazgul identity), because it is an older version of the same thing.
Thank you. Rian: yes there are no mirrors in Orrodel. Poor Lilly does not know the spells for her reflection to appear. |
